2021 has been challenging for Starfield enthusiasts, as Bethesda’s promises of “exciting developments” haven’t resulted in much progress. However, a recent Developer Spotlight video featured lead creative producer Tim Lamb confirming that they are indeed creating new story DLC. This is the first substantial update since last year when Todd Howard hinted that another DLC was on the horizon following Shattered Space.
Fortunately, there’s even more good news: free updates are on their way too! Additionally, Lamb shared that a portion of the team has been working on enhancing space gameplay, aiming to make journeys through space more engaging and worthwhile. This seems consistent with player observations of potential interplanetary travel hints that surfaced earlier this month.
Absolutely, you can expect “a handful of innovative gaming platforms, along with some smaller enjoyable features.” Additionally, Lamb hinted at some “truly exciting content” on its way from our verified creators, primarily focusing on the Creations marketplace. Only time will reveal more details.
Although we don’t have an exact release date yet, there are whispers suggesting that the upcoming DLC might debut in Spring 2026, aligning with the game’s PS5 launch. At present, Starfield can be played on Xbox Series X/S and PC. Despite receiving positive reviews and boasting over 15 million players as of November 2024, it has faced significant criticism from dedicated fans.
