Undead Labs recently revealed gameplay footage for their highly anticipated zombie survival game, State of Decay 3. A new trailer, lasting just over three minutes, was shown during the XBOX Games Summer Showcase 2026, and you can watch it below.
The latest trailer for State of Decay 3 shows players will face more dangerous zombies and have new ways to fight them. In addition to traps and explosives for dealing with large groups, the zombies are now actively hunting survivors – they’re not just aimlessly wandering around anymore.
Unlike previous State of Decay games where players mainly focused on gathering resources to expand their base, State of Decay 3 will emphasize actively destroying zombie nests. This is to prevent dangerous packs of zombies from threatening survivor communities.
The new trailer suggests that State of Decay 3 will feature significantly improved co-op multiplayer compared to State of Decay 2. It looks like the main character will frequently be joined by other characters who act more realistically and independently than typical computer-controlled allies.
The highly anticipated game, State of Decay 3, is scheduled to launch in 2027 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. Like other games from Xbox Game Studios, it will also be included with Xbox Game Pass.
