Steam Controller Costs $99, According to Early Positive Review

Although the release dates for the Steam Machine and Steam Deck are still uncertain, Valve seems close to launching its Steam Controller. A review of the controller was recently posted on YouTube by Techy Talk, though it’s no longer available on the official channel. Fortunately, you can still find mirrored versions of the review online, shared on Reddit.

So, they finally announced the price – it’s gonna be $99. That makes it pricier than the PS5’s DualSense controller by about 25 bucks. But honestly, from what I’ve heard, it sounds like it’ll be worth it. The big thing is the trackpads – two of them! – which apparently make scrolling way easier and just feel really natural to use. People are already saying it’s super intuitive.

Beyond the basics, this handheld includes a six-axis gyroscope, four extra buttons on the back, and better buttons and directional pad compared to the Steam Deck. It also comes with a charging stand. However, it does have some drawbacks: you can’t change the thumbsticks or the device’s cover, the battery is hard to replace, and surprisingly, it lacks a headphone jack.

Despite a few drawbacks, the Steam Machine seems promising, and with all the excitement surrounding it, the Steam Controller is likely to be very popular. Now, all we need is for Valve to tell us when it will be available.
