We anticipated some negative reaction when Valve announced price increases for the Steam Deck OLED models yesterday. However, we were wrong! Despite the higher prices, the console is already sold out again, just one day after going back on sale.
While it’s unexpected, we wonder if Valve is intentionally creating a sense of high demand for the console by limiting its availability. It’s possible we’re misinterpreting things, though – this recent release clearly sold out quickly, suggesting there’s plenty of interest.
Valve and its Steam Deck console face some challenges in the coming months due to parts shortages and increasing prices. But if the Steam Deck remains popular with customers, these issues might not be a major concern.
If you weren’t able to purchase one, it might be a while before more become available. And, according to rumors, the Steam Machine could be even more expensive when it’s released.
