These days, there’s a lot of discussion about what kids should watch on TV and how much screen time is okay. When we were growing up, television seemed less complicated and more enchanting.
I absolutely loved Trumpton as a kid, and you won’t believe it, I can still rattle off the names of the fire brigade! Honestly, I think as I get older and start forgetting things, those names will be the ones that stay with me the longest. It’s funny what sticks in your memory, isn’t it?
It’s good to think that today’s kids are creating their own special memories from watching TV – moments that come from shows that teach them something, let them use their imaginations, or just make them laugh. Those first experiences with stories, characters, and vibrant visuals actually have a bigger impact than we often realize.
This week in TopMob magazine, we’re excited to revisit Balamory, the beloved children’s show that captured so many hearts. We chat with Julie Wilson Nimmo, who played Miss Hoolie, about returning to the series and how a new generation of kids will fall in love with it.
Anne Wood, who created Teletubbies, is sharing her ideas about kids’ TV today, especially with so many new ways to watch videos thanks to platforms like YouTube and TikTok. Her insights are particularly relevant now as children’s viewing habits are changing quickly.
We also have a roundup of the 10 best kids’ shows currently on TV, and RT’s resident TV expert, David Brown, takes a nostalgic look back at some beloved classic programs.
We hope you enjoy this issue! If you get a chance, consider watching something fun with the kids.
