Directed by Steven Spielberg and written by his longtime collaborator David Koepp (based on an original idea from Spielberg himself), the story follows a man working at a Kansas City TV station who gets caught up in a worldwide discovery about intelligent life beyond Earth. Early previews suggest he may be taken over, or used as a channel, to send a message of some kind.
Alongside Rosamund Pike, Disclosure Day features a strong cast including Josh O’Connor, Colin Firth, Wyatt Russell, Colman Domingo, Eve Hewson, Patricia Conolly, Nah Robbins, and Elliot Villar. The film also stars Elizabeth Marvel, Henry Lloyd-Hughes, Michael Gaston, Brian Cage, Gabby Beans, Lance Archer, Chavo Guerrero Jr., and Tommy Martinez.

Steven Spielberg Is Back With Another Summer Blockbuster
Steven Spielberg is known for releasing films in the summer, and he’s returning to that tradition with Disclosure Day. This summer promises plenty of big movies, including Spielberg’s new film and Christopher Nolan’s large-scale historical drama, The Odyssey.
In June, screenwriter Koepp praised Spielberg’s latest film, particularly its ability to blend grand-scale visuals with genuine emotional depth. He noted that Spielberg uniquely excels at this combination, making the movie a truly moving experience.
Koepp also spoke highly of the film, noting its strength lies in its originality. He explained it started as Steven Spielberg’s own idea and story, and he finds working on original projects particularly enjoyable. He compared the process to his work on ‘Presence,’ saying that with any new idea, it’s natural to consider similar movies for inspiration, but the goal isn’t to copy them – it’s about finding your own direction.
Koepp explained that as a screenwriter, you’re constantly thinking about how a new project fits into the world of film. Then, you focus on meeting the expectations and overcoming the challenges specific to that type of movie. The process still involves a lot of back-and-forth communication with the director, rewriting, and refining the script. Ultimately, whether the film costs $2 million or $100 million to make, the core work remains the same.
Disclosure Day is slated to arrive in theaters on June 12.
