Despite all the excitement and speculation – fueled by a New Year’s Eve special in 2025 – the popular Netflix series is going to continue, but not exactly as fans might have expected.
Universal Studios revealed on Wednesday that a Stranger Things experience based on Season 5 will be featured at Halloween Horror Nights in 2026. The popular Halloween event will return to Universal Orlando Resort on August 28 and Universal Studios Hollywood on September 3, running on select nights through November 1.
As a huge Stranger Things fan, I’m so excited about these new haunted houses! Universal has teamed up with Netflix to put you right in the middle of the final showdown in Hawkins. Apparently, you’ll feel like you’re in the show as the line between our world and the Upside Down blurs, and darkness takes over. They’re building sets based on locations from the last season – think the Wheeler house, Hawkins Lab, the MAC-Z base, and of course, the terrifying Upside Down and the Abyss. It sounds incredible!
As guests journey through the haunted house, they’ll come face-to-face with beloved characters and iconic monsters from the series, like Demogorgons and creatures from the Upside Down. Vecna will also be lurking, building the tension towards a final, desperate fight for survival, according to Universal.
No theme park visit is complete without souvenirs! Universal has released a limited collection of Stranger Things merchandise inspired by the haunted house attraction, including a T-shirt, retro mug, and an acrylic figure that connects to a larger collectible display (sold separately). More collectibles related to this year’s event will be revealed soon, so fans can create a complete set. Universal Studios has a history of bringing the hit Netflix series Stranger Things to life at its Halloween Horror Nights event. It started in 2018 with a haunted house based on the show’s first season, featuring iconic locations like Hawkins Lab and the Upside Down. They continued the tradition in 2019 and 2023 with houses themed around seasons 2 & 3 and season 4 (focusing on Vecna), respectively. In 2026, the collaboration will continue with a new haunted house bringing the final season of Stranger Things to terrifying life.
