Get ready for more Stranger Things! Season 2 of Tales from ’85 has been confirmed, promising another exciting story set in Hawkins.
The animated series reimagined the story with a fresh voice cast playing Will Byers, Mike Wheeler, Eleven, and their friends. They embarked on a new adventure, battling different monsters from the Upside Down.
Netflix has announced a second season of the show, just days after the first season became available.
Showrunner Eric Robles told The Hollywood Reporter that viewers often prefer seeing familiar faces over new characters and monsters in season 2. He noted they sometimes get pushback when they try to introduce entirely new additions.
Viewers often ask why we don’t reuse existing characters. With Nikki, we feel we have enough, and we’ve already introduced some antagonistic characters like Jeff and Charlie. We likely will bring them back, now that they’re part of the show’s world.

Okay, so season two really digs into the backstory of Hawkins. As a viewer, I’m excited to learn more about the town’s history and how it connects to everything that happened with Eleven and the Upside Down. They’re not just expanding the scope of the story, they’re actually revealing secrets about why Hawkins is the way it is, and apparently that final, haunting image from the first season – that blooming flower – is a key to understanding it all. It feels like they’re building a richer, more complex mythology, and I’m here for it.
Robles recently explained to TopMob why the original voice actors from Stranger Things weren’t involved in Tales from ’85.
He explained that using the original voice actors would mean hearing older voices, as everyone ages. Given the new, darker vocal style planned for season two, using the original voices wouldn’t fit the overall sound.
The creators, the Duffer Brothers, loved how natural and youthful the kids sounded in the first seasons, and they wanted to recreate that same energy with their dialogue. As for the monsters and challenges the Hawkins group will encounter in season two, we’ll have to wait and see!
