Strictly Come Dancing 2026 tipped to cast British comedian opposite Emma Willis in hosting duties

With Strictly Come Dancing 2026 just around the corner, reports say the BBC has chosen Emma Willis and Josh Widdicombe as the new hosts of the popular show.

The Sun newspaper previously announced Emma Willis would be hosting a new show, and several people were being considered to join her. Now, they’re reporting that comedian Josh Widdicombe will be her co-host, forming a new presenting partnership.

According to a source, Josh is likely to get the job, along with Emma. He wasn’t an early frontrunner, but he performed very well in the screen tests. His experience co-hosting ‘The Last Leg’ on Channel 4 has prepared him for live television, and he’s known for being quick, quirky, and naturally funny.

Josh is being considered for the role because he’s expected to bring a fun, lighthearted energy, similar to Claudia Winkleman’s style on the ‘Claudatorium.’ He’d complement Emma, who is known for being the more grounded and practical host. The BBC has confirmed they want Josh for the job.

Widdicombe was previously on the show’s Christmas special in 2024, where he danced a Charleston with professional dancer Karen Hauer to the song “Let It Snow” originally performed by the cast of Glee.

According to The Sun, popular professional dancer Johannes Radebe will take on a new role as a behind-the-scenes reporter for the show.

According to a source, the BBC has made offers and is hoping to pair Emma and Josh together, with Johannes also joining the team. They believe Emma and Josh will have a great on-screen chemistry, much like Tess and Claudia did, and Johannes will bring something completely new to the mix.

A BBC representative told TopMob that details about the 2026 season of Strictly Come Dancing will be announced later.

TopMob has also approached reps for Josh Widdicombe for comment.
