As usual, Summer Game Fest 2026 saved its biggest announcements for the beginning and end of the show. However, fans hoping to see Grand Theft Auto 6 were disappointed, as it wasn’t revealed at either time.
Summer Game Fest 2026 kicked off with the exciting announcement of a complete remake of the classic game, Resident Evil Veronica, planned for release in 2027. The reveal trailer started in a surprising way – with an elderly French woman discussing cookies – before quickly transitioning into the signature action fans expect from the Resident Evil series, leaving viewers initially unsure of what they were seeing.
The show concluded with the announcement of Final Fantasy VII: Revelation, the last game in the FF7 remake trilogy. Matt Mercer made an appearance to discuss the game, which is currently slated for release in Spring 2027. A preview showed off its expansive open world, where players will be able to skydive from above to explore.
