We don’t yet know how many celebrity appearances the new Supergirl movie will feature, but actress Milly Alcock has revealed that one big star will definitely be making an appearance.
What huge character is set to return for Supergirl?
During a recent press event for the new movie, Alcock, who plays Kara Zor-El/Supergirl, shared that the most challenging scene to film involved David Corenswet, confirming he will appear in the movie as Superman.
According to Alcock, filming a scene with Superman was surprisingly challenging. She wasn’t wearing her costume and had to perform all of her lines in a completely different language – Kryptonian. She described the day as very difficult, noting the freezing 2-degree temperature and that Superman immediately dove into the most demanding part of the scene. The entire scene, she emphasized, was spoken in Kryptonian.
It wasn’t entirely surprising to see Alcock show up at the end of the recent Superman film, but it confirms that she and Corenswet will share a scene in the next movie. What that scene will be about remains a mystery.
The upcoming movie, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, is inspired by the comic book series of the same name by Tom King and illustrated by Bilquis Evely. Milly Alcock will star as Supergirl (Kara Zor-El), and the script is written by Ana Nogueira. The film is being produced by DC Studios heads James Gunn and Peter Safran.
In 2023, director James Gunn explained that the new Supergirl will be quite different from previous versions. He highlighted the contrast between her upbringing and Superman’s: Superman was raised by loving parents on Earth from infancy, while Supergirl spent her first fourteen years on the destroyed Krypton, witnessing tragedy all around her before arriving on Earth as a child. Because of this, Gunn described her as ‘much more hardcore’.
The upcoming movie, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, is adapted from the comic book series by Tom King, with artwork by Bilquis Evely. Craig Gillespie is directing the film, which is scheduled to be released on June 26, 2026.
