Supergirl’s Final Trailer Reveals How Powerful Kara Really Is in the DCU (Plus Superman’s Return)

Starting a new shared universe of movies in recent years was a big challenge, but Warner Bros.’ reimagining of its DC characters as the DCU appears to be gaining momentum. Superman was a global success, and that excitement continued with Season 2 of Peacemaker. Even now, early looks at Man of Tomorrow, the next Superman film, are generating a lot of buzz, showing how James Gunn has successfully built this universe. However, the true test will come this summer and fall with the release of the next two DCU movies.

Now that tickets are available for Supergirl, DC Studios and Warner Bros. Pictures have released what they’re calling the final trailer for the movie. The exciting new trailer is packed with action and showcases key moments featuring Milly Alcock as Supergirl. It confirms her powers within the DC Universe and hints at her connection to Superman. You can watch it below!

Supergirl’s Final Trailer Brings the DCU’s Next Big Hero to the Screen

The latest trailer for Supergirl starts strong by highlighting the contrast between Kara and Superman. While Superman always looks for the best in people, Kara focuses on reality. This idea isn’t new, but the trailer now shows footage of Kara’s first arrival on Earth – with Superman opening the pod she’s been traveling in. We also see a scene of Superman giving Kara her own superhero suit, suggesting a close mentorship.

The Supergirl trailer features impressive scenes showcasing the hero’s immense power. We see Kara withstand a massive impact without reaction, then powerfully punch enemies high into the air and unleash her heat vision with force. Other shots depict her flying through space, deftly avoiding obstacles, and using her heat vision to blast her way out of a watery confinement before flying to safety.

Many DC fans are especially thrilled to see more of Jason Momoa as Lobo. Even though it’s a short scene, it shows him riding up on his bike and swinging his signature chain, saying, “Now it’s a party.” Supergirl responds with, “That might be a problem.” We briefly see both characters together, but it’s still unclear how Supergirl and Lobo will interact throughout the movie. While Lobo clearly plays a significant role, we haven’t yet seen how his story connects to Kara’s or what she thinks of him.

The latest Supergirl trailer heavily focuses on the danger facing Krypto, which caught many fans off guard. Similar to the comic book Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, Krypto will be important to the story, but he’s also a target for the villain, Krem of the Yellow Hills. The trailer includes a chilling line from Krem – “Only one of you is going to make it out alive” – shown while Kara comforts Krypto. While this line could be misleading marketing, it’s effectively building tension and highlighting the threat to Krypto.

Supergirl flies into theaters on June 26.
