The Superman TV show spin-off has received an exciting update.
The new Superman movie, from DC Studios and Warner Bros., premiered in US cinemas in July 2025. James Gunn wrote and directed the film, which stars David Corenswet as Superman/Clark Kent, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, and Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane. This is the first film in the new DC Universe (DCU).
I’m so excited to hear they’re continuing Superman’s story with a new project, “Man of Tomorrow,” planned for 2027! But that’s not all – there are even more things happening in the DC universe. I recently learned about a show focusing on Jimmy Olsen, and it sounds really interesting! Skyler Gisondo will be playing him, and it’s being created by the team behind “American Vandal,” Tony Yacenda and Dan Perrault. Apparently, it wasn’t originally going to be called “DC Crime” as some rumors suggested, but I’m still really looking forward to seeing what they come up with!
What is the update on the Superman spin-off show?
In an interview with The Direct, Peter Perrault was questioned about the show’s title, specifically whether it would be called ‘Daily Planet’ or if another name was still being considered.
Perrault revealed they’re still deciding on a title for the show. They discussed several options last week and are considering multiple possibilities, but confirmed it won’t be called ‘Untitled Jimmy Olsen Show’.
Perrault explained that the series will feel familiar to fans of their previous work. He and Tony Yacenda have a lot of experience with crime mystery comedies, and they’re bringing that expertise to this superhero project in a way that hasn’t been done before.
Deadline announced that the first season of the upcoming Flash series, produced by Warner Bros. Television, will feature the famous villain Gorilla Grodd, who first appeared in 1959. Details about the plot beyond that are currently being kept secret.
The Jimmy Olsen Superman spin-off series does not yet have a release date from HBO Max.
