A popular new action movie, starring a beloved actor, is gaining a lot of viewers on a major streaming service.
The movie Take Cover, released in 2024, is currently a top 10 hit on Paramount+ in 17 countries across Latin America, from Mexico to Uruguay. It’s also performing well on Prime Video in Japan, according to Flix Patrol.
In the action thriller Take Cover, Scott Adkins plays Sam Lorde, a sniper hoping to escape his dangerous life after a mission goes wrong. He and his partner, Ken (Jack Parr), are sent by their boss, Tamara, for one last job: a seemingly simple assignment in a large penthouse apartment. However, they quickly find themselves under attack from enemies appearing to be everywhere.
Nick McKinless directed Take Cover, written by Joshua Todd James. The film features Scott Adkins, Eve, and Parr, along with Madalina Bellariu Ion as Mona and Alba De Torrebruna as Lily. Billy Clements and Ada Michaels-Mason also make appearances as the Assassin and Blonde, respectively.
I finally got around to watching Take Cover after it popped up on VOD earlier this year, following a small run in cinemas. It didn’t exactly set the world on fire, but honestly, the action was really well done – super tense and the plot kept me hooked. It turns out the director, Nick McKinless, has a great background – he worked on big stuff like Fast X and Gangs of London, which explains a lot about the quality of those sequences!
Although critics generally liked the film Take Cover, audiences weren’t as impressed. Currently, it has a rating of 5.1 out of 10 on IMDb, based on over 3,700 reviews.
A review in The Guardian criticized the film Take Cover, pointing out that it missed opportunities to fully explore its simple premise. The reviewer highlighted unrealistic details, such as a sniper revealing their location with a lens flare and characters hiding behind easily-pierced furniture, questioning the film’s attention to detail.
What’s Next for Take Cover Star Alice Eve?
Alice Eve has two movies scheduled for release in 2026. The first is a thriller called The Awakening, directed by Matt Routledge and co-written with Justin Tinto and Matt Hookings. The film also features Steven Berkoff, Peter Storemare, Matt Hookings, Julian Glover, Eddie Hall, Dapper Laughs, Justin Tinto, and Kevin Spacey.
Eve is joining the cast of Fortitude, a World War II-era spy thriller. The film, directed by Simon West and written by Simon Afram, boasts a star-studded ensemble including Nicolas Cage, Matthew Goode, Ed Skrein, Jordi Mollà, Ben Kingsley, Michael Sheen, Lukas Haas, and Art Malik.
Take Cover is currently available for streaming on Paramount+ and Amazon Prime Video.
