For Taylor Swift, another day can bring another rumored drama.
Rumors circulated that Taylor Swift and her frequent collaborator, Jack Antonoff, had a falling out because he didn’t work on her recent album, The Life of a Showgirl. However, Taylor quickly dismissed those rumors.
In a recent interview with The New York Times, she revealed that Jack Antonoff is not only a frequent songwriting partner, but also one of her closest friends.
Need she say more? Well, she did—at least about the pair’s creative process.
The 35-year-old explained that they developed a process they enjoy, which they’ve nicknamed the ‘rant bridge.’ They illustrated this with examples like the songs ‘Out of the Woods,’ ‘Is It Over Now?’ and ‘Cruel Summer.’
As for what takes a normal bridge and makes it rant-filled?
As a huge fan, the way Taylor describes her songwriting process really resonates with me. She explained that it’s like letting your thoughts and feelings just flow out – everything, unfiltered. It’s a mix of raw emotion, those little intrusive thoughts we all have, and lots of imagery and discussion, sometimes even feeling like a shout! She aims for these ‘rant bridges’ in her songs to be the absolute peak of the emotion she’s building throughout the whole track – a real, powerful crescendo.
Jack and Taylor first worked together musically over ten years ago, in 2013, when they co-wrote the song “Sweeter Than Fiction” for the movie One Chance. He’s been a key contributor to most of her albums ever since.

In a February 2024 interview with the Los Angeles Times, he acknowledged having a temper, saying, “I can be a bit of a jerk sometimes.” However, he firmly stated that anyone who attacks his friend Taylor will face his wrath.
He explained that questioning her ability as a songwriter is deeply personal, saying, “It’s like attacking someone’s religious beliefs – it’s just off-limits.”

In 2023, Taylor celebrated the 10-year anniversary of her song “Sweeter Than Fiction,” a tribute to her and Jack’s beginnings.
You know, seeing someone you care about truly blossom is one of life’s greatest joys. I recently shared a song that instantly reminded me of my dear friend, Jack. It was the very first thing we created together, and watching him grow as an artist has been incredible – honestly, a real highlight of my life. It’s so funny, he’s actually six years older than me, but sometimes he still feels like that bright, talented kid I always knew he could be! It’s a sweet mystery, really.
Jack, too, has been similarly effusive in his praise of the Midnights artist and their bond.

In a February 2024 interview with the Los Angeles Times, he confessed to occasionally being difficult, stating, “But if anyone attacks my friend Taylor, they’ll face my wrath.”
He explained that questioning her ability as a songwriter is deeply personal – almost like attacking someone’s religious beliefs. It’s a topic best left untouched.

As a songwriter, Taylor Swift is truly remarkable – she handles all of her own lyrics and music! But did you know her Speak Now album is extra special? She wrote every single song on that record completely solo – no co-writers at all! Considering she was only 20 years old when it came out in October 2010, it’s even more impressive. It really showcases her incredible talent and dedication.
I’ve always been fascinated by Taylor Swift’s connection to Christmas, and it’s so lovely to learn she actually grew up on a Christmas tree farm in Pennsylvania with her family! It makes perfect sense that she’d write a song inspired by those special memories – it’s called ‘Christmas Tree Farm,’ and it really feels like a glimpse into her childhood.
3. She’s named after James Taylor. That’s right, from one music legend to another.

She used to model for Abercrombie & Fitch. Like Channing Tatum, Jennifer Lawrence, Emma Roberts, and Ashton Kutcher, Taylor Swift also worked with the company back in 2003.
Taylor Swift gave Eric Church his first gold record as a thank you for supporting her early in her career. Back in 2006, she joined Rascal Flatts on tour after Church was let go from the group. Church recalled that Swift reached out to him after reading about his dismissal. She told him she admired his work, and he playfully predicted she’d owe him a gold record if she became successful. To his surprise, when Swift received her first gold record, she sent him one with a note thanking him for his energetic performance on the Rascal Flatts tour and expressing her sincere gratitude.

Taylor Swift has unusually flexible elbows – she’s double-jointed. When asked about her hidden talents in a 2016 Vogue interview, she jokingly admitted that being double-jointed was the only somewhat unusual thing she could do.
7. Her drink of choice? Vodka and Diet Coke, as revealed in that same Vogue video.
I’ve noticed Taylor’s been really smart about protecting her mental health, and I admire it so much. She recently shared in an essay for Elle that social media, while fun, can really mess with your head – constantly showing you what you don’t have or making you feel inadequate. She’s found a way to manage that by turning off the comments on her posts. It’s not about ignoring her fans, she explained; it’s about retraining her brain to not need external validation. She wants to share updates on her life, but not at the expense of her own peace of mind, and honestly, that’s incredibly relatable. She doesn’t need a bunch of ‘you look great!’ to know she’s doing okay, and I think that’s a really healthy boundary to set.

Taylor Swift initially considered calling her seventh album Daylight, but she ultimately chose Lover. She felt Daylight was too obvious, given that the album was a follow-up to her darker reputation album. After writing the song “Lover,” she decided it would be the perfect title.
Taylor Swift made history as the youngest solo artist to ever win Album of the Year. She was only 20 years old when she received the award in 2010 for her popular album, Fearless.

As a longtime observer of pop culture, I have to say Taylor Swift’s 2024 Grammy win was truly iconic! She made history as the first woman ever to win Album of the Year four times – a testament to her incredible artistry and staying power. Those wins came for some of her most beloved albums: Fearless, 1989, Folklore, and Midnights. It’s a remarkable achievement, and solidifies her place as a music legend.
As a huge fan, I was so thrilled to see that Taylor Swift’s Lover album sold over a million physical copies in the US just within its first few months! It was amazing to learn that it was the first album of 2019 to achieve that kind of success – a real testament to how much people love her music.

Taylor Swift made history at the 2019 American Music Awards by winning more awards than any other artist, breaking Michael Jackson’s previous record.
When Taylor was growing up, she dreamed of becoming a stockbroker, following in her father’s footsteps. However, she discovered her passion for music and eventually moved with her family from Pennsylvania to Tennessee to pursue it.
She started playing guitar when she was about 12 years old. It all began when a computer technician showed her a few basic chords, and she was inspired to write her first song, called “Lucky You.”

Taylor Swift is a big fan of Phoebe Waller-Bridge. She told Entertainment Weekly that Waller-Bridge’s show, Fleabag, is brilliant because it’s funny, shocking, and emotionally moving all at once. Interestingly, Taylor later appeared on Saturday Night Live during an episode hosted by the Fleabag star!
In 2009, Taylor Swift did something unusual for a guest on Saturday Night Live: she wrote her own monologue. Her performance, including the song “Monologue Song (La La La),” clearly impressed the show’s team.
Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez have been close friends ever since they both dated members of the Jonas Brothers. Back in 2008, Taylor dated Joe Jonas, and Selena was seeing his brother, Nick. They bonded quickly and have stayed very close ever since. Selena even asked Taylor to be a flower girl at her wedding to Benny Blanco, showing how strong their friendship is. (For those who may not remember, Selena publicly supported Taylor when she returned to SNL in November 2021 to perform the extended version of “All Too Well.”)

Do you remember Abigail, the redhead Taylor Swift mentions in her song “Fifteen”? They’re still close friends! Abigail Anderson was actually a bridesmaid at her wedding back in 2017.
She’s a godmother to several children of her close friends, including Jaime King’s son Leo Thames and the daughters of Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds – James, Inez, and Betty.

Taylor Swift has indicated she might not ever perform her song “Soon You’ll Get Better,” which she wrote about her mother’s fight with cancer. She explained in a SiriusXM interview in August 2019 that the song was very difficult to create, sing, and even listen to, but acknowledged that music can often be emotionally challenging.
Taylor Swift doesn’t have the X app (formerly Twitter) on her phone. She told Billboard magazine that she often feels overwhelmed when she opens the app, so she removed it. She explained that she prefers to limit her news intake to politics and avoids celebrity gossip and fashion news, feeling her brain can only handle so much information.

Taylor Swift has never tried therapy, preferring to confide in her mother. In a 2019 interview with Rolling Stone, she explained that her mother has witnessed her entire life, making it easier to share everything with her. She joked that it would take a long time for anyone else to get up to speed on the last 29 years of her life.

In an interview, she revealed her favorite lyrics from her album Lover are: “Ladies and gentlemen, will you please stand? / With every guitar string scar on my hand/I take this magnetic force of a man to be my lover.”
Taylor Swift has officially become a billionaire! A Bloomberg report from October 2024 credits her incredibly successful Eras Tour with pushing her over that financial milestone, following more than ten years of breaking records in the music industry.
Taylor Swift was deeply moved by the 2019 Netflix film Someone Great. She explained to Elvis Duran that she cried while watching it and for a week afterward, had vivid dreams where she was living through the movie’s events. These dreams sparked lyrics in her mind, based on the relationships between the characters. She then collaborated with Jack Antonoff in the studio, which ultimately led to the creation of her song, “Death By a Thousand Cuts.”
She consistently features her most heartfelt songs – like “All Too Well” and “The Archer” – as the fifth track on her albums, making it a signature spot for her ballads.
Taylor Swift has stopped trying to avoid the paparazzi. Since 2023, she’s been openly supporting her fiancé, Travis Kelce, by attending his NFL games. In an interview with Time magazine, she explained that being in a public relationship means they can freely support each other without hiding. She said they don’t mind being seen together and are proud of each other’s accomplishments, unlike couples who have to go to great lengths to keep their relationship secret.

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s engagement announcement on Instagram in August 2025 went viral, becoming a record-breaking post on the platform. Billboard reported, using data from Meta, that it was reposted over a million times.
30. The engagement also helped inspire Cambridge Dictionary’s 2025 word of the year, “Parasocial.”
Taylor achieved a record-breaking feat when her album, The Life of a Showgirl, was released in October 2025. The Associated Press reported that it sold 2.7 million copies on its first day.
32. Oh, and the album went on to sell 4 million copies in its first week alone.

In her Disney+ documentary, The End of an Era, Taylor Swift explained that The Eras Tour came about because of two main reasons: she lost control of the recordings of her older songs (her ‘masters’), and the COVID-19 pandemic had just happened.
After a lengthy legal fight, Taylor announced in May 2025 that she had regained ownership of the original recordings of her first six albums.
Taylor Swift revealed on The Stephen Colbert Show on December 10th that she used the money earned from her Eras Tour to regain ownership of her music, explaining, “My fans are the reason I was able to do that.”
To keep the surprise for fans inside the stadiums, Taylor Swift and her band secretly practiced the surprise songs during the Eras Tour so people outside couldn’t hear them.
Taylor Swift gave bonuses to her tour crew after each leg of the Eras Tour, as revealed in her documentary series.
