PlatinumGames, the studio behind popular action games like NieR: Automata and Bayonetta, is creating a new game based on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin. A game adaptation of The Last Ronin was actually first announced by THQ Nordic in 2023, but PlatinumGames recently revealed their own version with a new trailer (see it below).
The upcoming story is likely inspired by the comic book series Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin, which came out between 2020 and 2022. The comics take place in a bleak future where the Foot Clan has conquered New York City. Only one Turtle remains – the Last Ronin – and he’s on a mission to avenge his brothers by defeating Shredder’s grandson.
The recent trailer from PlatinumGames didn’t share whether their Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin game will follow the comic’s story or create a new one within the same universe. The trailer also didn’t show any actual gameplay. However, given PlatinumGames’ reputation for creating fast-paced action games – like the critically praised Ninja Gaiden 4 – it’s likely this game will offer a similar, action-packed experience.
Paramount Game Studios is releasing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin, but they haven’t announced when it will be available or on what systems.
