Art the Clown is ready to wrap up his bloody story with Terrifier 4.
Damien Leone, the creator and director of the series, addressed a lot of rumors and incorrect information in a recent Facebook post with an official statement.
The script is almost finished, and I’m planning to start preparing for filming this spring. This script is especially meaningful to me – it’s been the most difficult, yet rewarding, one I’ve written. There’s a lot to do, and it means a great deal to me both personally and professionally.
Here’s the latest news on the next installment in the controversial horror series. Earlier this February, Lauren LaVera, who stars in Terrifier, told ScreenRant‘s Grant Hermanns that the script is likely almost done, echoing similar reports from director Damien Leone.
Fans of the horror film Terrifier have been eagerly awaiting the next installment after Terrifier 3 left them on a cliffhanger. While some hoped to see the film released before 2026, director Damien LaVera has suggested that timeframe is unlikely, calling it “ambitious, but not impossible.”
It’s always a challenge to end a series well, especially one like Terrifier that’s known for its extreme gore, elaborate deaths, and, well, a lot of slime. As director Damien Leone explained:
Over the years, we’ve created something truly remarkable as a team. Those who’ve been with us from the start – the cast and crew – have earned a satisfying conclusion that recognizes their hard work, and our incredible fans deserve a memorable ending to the story they love.
Honestly, I’m really excited about how this project is shaping up, and I truly believe it’s going to be something special. I’ll be making the official announcement about the finished script on my social media, and that’s when we’ll kick off pre-production. Just a heads-up: if you don’t hear it directly from me, don’t believe it!
I remember when the first Terrifier was just a crowdfunding dream on Indiegogo. Phil Falcone, who was already a fan of Art the Clown from the anthology All Hallow’s Eve, immediately stepped up to help fund it. And wow, did that investment pay off! It became a huge indie success, earning over $421,000 at the box office despite being made on a tiny $45,000 budget and only playing in a few theaters.
Horror fans were ready for something new. While classic slasher villains are often limited by what studios allow, Terrifier stood out with its independent spirit and inventive gore. The film’s success, particularly with Terrifier 3 earning around $90 million worldwide, proves that audiences now have different tastes in horror.
Fans are particularly excited for Terrifier 4 because it promises to reveal the backstory of Art the Clown. They’re hoping the creators can explain his origins without ruining the character’s frightening and enigmatic nature. While Terrifier 3 showed Art has a connection to a demon, there’s still a lot more to learn about him.
Fans of the Terrifier series will need to be patient and wait for further news from Damien Leone about the making of Terrifier 4.
