The Bad Guys 2 Cast Confesses Their Love of All-Time Best Villains

In the sequel to “The Bad Guys”, the charmingly mischievous gang consisting of Wolf, Snake, Tarantula, Shark, and Piranha return, this time attempting to maintain lawfulness. However, their efforts are put to the test when a new group called The Bad Girls emerges, leading them on a globetrotting heist. Chris Killian from ComicBook got a sneak peek at the cast of “The Bad Guys 2” and learned about their preferred screen villains, resulting in an impressive collection of all-time favorites.

Initially, it was Awkwafina and Anthony Ramos who took the stage, and their choices were as diverse as they are captivating. When asked about their preferred on-screen villain, Ramos enthusiastically pointed to the Joker, specifically Heath Ledger’s portrayal, calling it “legendary.” On the other hand, Awkwafina veered off in a unique direction, expressing her fondness for Plankton, stating that she simply adores him.

Next up was Danielle Brooks who expressed, “My pick is Django, played by Samuel L. Jackson, from the movie. I think he was the most outstanding villain.” Natasha Lyonne chose a different antagonist, remarking, “Mine could be Gary Oldman in ‘The Professional.’ Remember when he takes that pill and becomes insane? What an incredible scene.

Maria Bakalovia pointed out another exceptional and equally impressive performance, commenting, “Indeed, these are fantastic. I’d like to add a remarkable female antagonist, and I believe Rosamund Pike in ‘Gone Girl’ fits the bill perfectly.” For Sam Rockwell, it’s one of the iconic villains on the big screen. “Wow, well, Hannibal Lecter is quite impressive. I’m a fan of Denzel Washington in ‘Training Day’,” Rockwell stated. Craig Robinson moved the conversation to television, saying, “I have to go with the small screen. Gus Fring from ‘Breaking Bad’ is my pick.

Next up was Marc Maron, who found it challenging to think of a character devoid of empathy initially. “It’s intriguing because now I’m contemplating villains, and they all seem to be empathetic in some way,” Maron commented. Later, Killian suggested someone lacking empathy from the series Wild Bill, and Maron concurred, saying, “Ah, that’s a true antagonist.

When asked about his favorite villain in “Bad Guys 2,” director Pierre Perifel found it challenging to choose just one from the stellar cast. However, he highlighted two standout characters that resonated with him particularly. He admitted, laughing, that it was like being asked to pick a favorite child. He confessed, “I’m especially attached to Wolf because I see some similarities between us; he represents my life experiences in a way, although I’m not an ex-con, you understand. His personal struggles with life’s big changes are something I can relate to.” Perifel further added, “And then there’s Diana – she is just so cool and sleek.” Here is the official description for “Bad Guys 2” provided below.

In the latest thrilling installment from DreamWorks Animation’s hit comedy series about a gang of animal misfits who used to be villains, our former bad guys are making an effort (extraordinarily hard) to live honorably. However, they end up getting drawn into a dangerous, worldwide heist orchestrated by a group of new criminals they didn’t anticipate: The Bad Girls.

The Bad Guys 2 hits theaters on August 1st.
