The Beatles cast: Full list of confirmed actors for the four-film cinematic event

Sam Mendes is creating a unique cinematic experience centered around The Beatles. In April 2028, four separate films – each dedicated to a different member of the band – will be released on the same day, allowing fans to watch them all together in theaters.

Isaac Mendes is directing all four films. The screenplays are being written by three writers: Jez Butterworth, Peter Straughan, and Jack Thorne.

Playwright Butterworth has won an Olivier Award and previously worked with director Mendes on the film Spectre. Straughan recently earned a BAFTA, Golden Globe, and Oscar for his screenplay Conclave. Thorne, known for his work Adolescence, has a history with Mendes in theatre, as Mendes directed Thorne’s play The Motive and the Cue.

The film is generating a lot of excitement, even though it’s still two years away from release, thanks to the incredible team working on it – they even made changes based on feedback from the Beatles themselves!

All four Beatles will be in each of the four films, and many of the actors will appear in multiple movies throughout the series.

Harris Dickinson plays John Lennon

Harris Dickinson has experience portraying real individuals. He previously played David Von Erich in the 2023 film The Iron Claw, and before that, he took on a fictionalized role inspired by Richard Attenborough in the 2022 comedy See How They Run.

Dickinson recently acted with Nicole Kidman in the 2024 film, Babygirl. He then wrote, directed, and starred in 2025’s Urchin, a project that brought him numerous award nominations. He called landing the role of John Lennon “a dream” – read our exclusive interview to learn more.

Paul Mescal plays Paul McCartney

Paul Mescal became well-known after starring in the hit series Normal People, but he had already built a solid acting career on stage. Before the show aired in 2020, he’d been performing since graduating from the Lir Academy, a highly respected drama school.

Since then, Mescal has starred in movies like Gladiator II, Aftersun, All of Us Strangers, and recently, the film Hamnet, which has already earned him award nominations.

Joseph Quinn plays George Harrison

Joseph Quinn, who previously worked on Gladiator II, became widely known for playing the popular character Eddie Munson in the fourth season of Stranger Things. He’s also been in a number of other successful films.

He officially became part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2025 with the film Fantastic Four: First Steps, where he played Johnny Storm, also known as the Human Torch. He’s also appeared in A Quiet Place: Day One and Warfare.

Barry Keoghan plays Ringo Starr

Barry Keoghan started taking on small acting roles in 2011, but he became widely known after appearing in films like Dunkirk, The Killing of a Sacred Deer, and especially The Banshees of Inisherin, for which he received an Oscar nomination and won a BAFTA Award. He continued to build his reputation in 2023 with a significant role in Saltburn.

I’m really excited to see Barry Keoghan in the upcoming Beatles movies, but that’s not all he’s got coming out! He’s actually got seven projects lined up, including those films, plus things like ‘Crime 101,’ a ‘Peaky Blinders’ movie called ‘The Immortal Man,’ and a film called ‘Butterfly Jam.’ It’s great to see him working on so many different things!

Saoirse Ronan plays Linda McCartney

Saoirse Ronan and Harris Dickinson have worked together before, appearing in both Blitz and See How They Run. This isn’t the first time they’ve shared the screen.

Saoirse Ronan is seriously one of the best actors working today, and I’ve been a fan for ages! You’ve probably seen her in so many great things – I loved her in Little Women, Lady Bird, and The Grand Budapest Hotel, just to name a few. More recently, The Outrun was incredible, and Brooklyn is a classic. I first really noticed her when she was younger, in Atonement – she was amazing, and it even got her an Oscar nomination! That was the first of four nominations she’s received so far, which is just incredible.

James Norton plays Brian Epstein

James Norton is a well-known actor who has appeared in several films and TV shows, including “Little Woman,” “Bob Marley: One Love,” and “Joy.”

He’s widely recognized for playing the villain Tommy Lee Royce in Happy Valley. He’s also appeared in several other TV shows, including Grantchester, McMafia, The Nevers, and recently, House of Guinness and King & Conqueror.

Mia McKenna-Bruce plays Maureen Starkey

Even though she wasn’t familiar with The Beatles, Mia McKenna-Bruce’s portrayal of Maureen Starkey is crucial to telling Ringo Starr’s life story.

Mia McKenna-Bruce first became known for her roles in shows like Tracy Beaker Returns and The Dumping Ground. She gained significant praise and won the BAFTA Rising Star award for her leading performance in the 2023 film How to Have Sex, and recently starred in The Seven Dials Mystery. We take a look at why she’s becoming a major talent.

Anna Sawai plays Yoko Ono

Sawai is a highly accomplished television actress, known for her work on critically acclaimed shows like Shōgun, as well as her prominent roles in Giri/Haji, Pachinko, and Monarch: Legacy of Monsters.

Yoko Ono is adding another acting credit to her resume, following her roles in the 2009 film Ninja Assassin and F9 from 2021. She’s also known as a musician, having been part of the Japanese pop group Faky.

Aimee Lou Wood plays Pattie Boyd

Aimee Lou Wood became well-known for her role in Sex Education, earning a Golden Globe nomination for her performance. Since then, she’s appeared in the hit show The White Lotus and even created, written, and starred in her own series called Film Club.

On the big screen, she’s starred in The Electrical Life of Louis Wain, Living and Seize Them.

Harry Lloyd plays George Martin

Lloyd is a highly successful actor with a long career in theatre, film, and TV. You might know him from popular shows like Wolf Hall, Brave New World, Robin Hood, Doctor Who, Game of Thrones, and The Fear. He’s also going to be in the next season of Slow Horses.

Big screen credits include The Theory of Everything, Anthropoid, and The Wife.

David Morrissey plays Jim McCartney

David Morrissey has been acting for over 30 years, appearing in many stage and television productions. He’s well known for roles in shows like State of Play, The Walking Dead, and, most recently, Sherwood.

In addition to his work on a Beatles-themed project, Morrissey will star in Russell T Davies’s new drama, Tip Toe, alongside Alan Cumming.

Leanne Best plays Mimi Smith

Leanne Best has a long and impressive career on television, with roles in popular shows like The Bay, Ted Lasso, Black Mirror, Cold Feet, and Line of Duty.

As a movie fan, I remember seeing Best in a couple of interesting roles around 2014. She was fantastic as the lead in “The Woman in Black 2: Angel of Death,” and I totally didn’t expect to see her pop up as Min Sakul in “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” too! It was a cool double feature of seeing her in such different genres.

Bobby Schofield plays Neil Aspinall

Most recently, Schofield played Joe in the 2025 TV film Unforgiveable by Jimmy McGovern. He was also in Guy Ritchie’s The Covenant in 2023, and has a substantial history of work in film and television.

He’s recently appeared in several shows, including SAS: Rogue Heroes, This City Is Ours, and ITV’s The Suspect.

Arthur Darvill plays Derek Taylor

Most people recognize Arthur Darvill as Rory Williams from Doctor Who, but he’s also been in shows like DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, Netflix’s The Sandman, and Broadchurch.

Meanwhile, his stage career includes leading performances in the musicals Oklahoma! and Once.

Adam Pally plays Allen Klein

Pally is a seasoned actor who recently appeared in the Sonic the Hedgehog films as Wade Whipple. He also returned to play the same character in the Knuckles spin-off series.

He’s also appeared in shows like Happy Endings and, most recently, co-created and starred in Mr Throwback.
