Despite the continued growth of The Big Bang Theory universe, one potential sequel series is no longer moving forward. The original show was a massive hit for over ten years, becoming the most popular comedy of the 2010s. After it ended in 2019, creator Chuck Lorre, along with CBS and the showrunners, successfully continued the story with Young Sheldon. Now, Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage is keeping the franchise going on traditional television, and the world will soon expand further with Stuart Fails to Save the Universe on HBO Max.
It’s obvious Chuck Lorre and his team are still finding ways to expand The Big Bang Theory universe, which isn’t surprising given how well their recent projects have done. Their new show, Stuart Fails to Save the Universe, is a big change of pace – it’s full-on science fiction with Kevin Sussman’s Stuart Bloom traveling through alternate realities to save everything. Whether this bold move will work remains to be seen, but there’s still potential for more stories within this world, particularly focusing on the character of Paige.
It’s true that building an entire show around this character might seem like a risky move, given her limited introduction. McKenna Grace first appeared as a gifted child, similar to Sheldon, in season 2 of Young Sheldon. Although she was only in a few episodes, the show developed a distinct storyline for her, one that contrasted sharply with Sheldon’s. However, her story was never fully resolved.
Why Paige’s Story Is The Best The Big Bang Theory Sequel Series

Paige was first seen in Young Sheldon as a character similar to Sheldon – she was also a child prodigy. However, that’s where the similarities stopped. Paige was much more well-rounded than Sheldon, being socially adjusted and emotionally aware. Sadly, her life took a turn when her parents divorced. This led to rebellious behavior and she began to dislike school. The last we saw of Paige on Young Sheldon, she and Missy were on a risky trip to Florida but were stopped by the police.
Due to Grace’s packed schedule and the shorter final season of Young Sheldon, the writers didn’t have time to properly resolve Paige’s storyline. While Missy received a small chance at redemption before George’s death, we never found out what happened to Paige after she left. It’s left open whether she improved her life or continued down a difficult path. This unresolved question could be a great starting point for a new The Big Bang Theory show, potentially structured like Young Sheldon.
Why Paige’s The Big Bang Theory Story Can’t Happen Anytime Soon

There are two main possibilities for a potential spin-off series following Paige from The Big Bang Theory. It could continue the story started in Young Sheldon, showing Paige as an adult, or it could be a completely new series featuring adult Paige, similar in style to The Big Bang Theory itself. However, this project is unlikely to happen in the near future because the actress who plays Paige, Grace, is currently filming Scooby-Doo for Netflix. This makes it difficult, if not impossible, for her to take on another role, even if she wants to.
Look, Grace is a fantastic actress – she’s always juggling tons of different roles, which proves how talented she is. But landing a lead in a TV show is a big commitment; it ties you up for years. If this live-action Scooby-Doo series takes off, that could be most of her time taken up! Taking on another show, even one online, would be really tough to fit in. The cool thing is, the idea isn’t something that has to happen right now. If Lorre and his team want to do a story about Paige after Young Sheldon, they can always come back to it later. They could tell her current story and then use flashbacks when needed to fill things out.
