Comic book teams usually form because of a huge, world-threatening danger. In *Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice*, Lex Luthor’s monitoring of super-powered individuals leads Bruce Wayne to discover heroes around the globe, preparing for when a crisis hits – as seen in *Justice League*. But once the villain Steppenwolf is defeated and his invasion of Earth is stopped, the heroes go back to their own lives. While they remain on good terms, they aren’t a close-knit group who socialize and hang out together regularly.
James Gunn’s new DC Universe is similar to what came before, even though it’s aiming for a more fun tone. Like the old Justice League, the new team, called the Justice Gang, is full of powerful heroes who don’t get along very well. They argue a lot and mostly work together for the public image. Luckily, there’s at least one group in the DCU motivated by genuine teamwork, and they might be gaining a new member soon.
The 11th Street Kids Go All Out to Save Peacemaker

Even after saving the world, Peacemaker (Christopher Smith) still faces trouble in Season 2. Rick Flag Sr. wants him brought in for killing his son, determined to get revenge. However, the new head of A.R.G.U.S. can’t simply make an arrest, so he tasks John Economos with secretly monitoring Peacemaker. Economos struggles to keep things hidden from his supervisor, Langston Fleury, who frequently mentions his unusual vision problem. Eventually, Economos manages to warn Peacemaker just as Flag authorizes a move to capture him. Peacemaker then escapes with the Quantum Unfolding Chamber and hides it in an old cabin.
Peacemaker needs to return to the alternate universe he’s been visiting, but first he has to meet with Emilia Harcourt. Their conversation in Season 2, Episode 5 is complicated by the presence of numerous A.R.G.U.S. agents. Harcourt actually has to rescue Smith when Flag orders him to be killed. Peacemaker ends up in custody, and Flag brutally beats him before Sasha Bordeaux arrives to confirm that Economos has officially booked him. While Economos anticipates a reprimand from his superiors, Fleury surprisingly offers him full support. This suggests one of Flag’s key agents may be reconsidering their loyalty, which could benefit the 11th Street Kids in the future.
Langston Fleury Could Be the Ace Up Peacemaker’s Sleeve

After being rejected by Harcourt and unable to reconcile with Flag, Smith leaves his world and enters a new one. Leota and Adrian arrive too late to prevent his departure, but they haven’t given up. The 11th Street Kids have access to a device called the Quantum Unfolding Chamber, and with some encouragement from Harcourt, they plan to use it to bring Smith back. However, the mission is complicated by Flag, who wants not only Smith returned, but also the alien technology he possesses. It seems A.R.G.U.S. will fully mobilize against Smith’s new location, and the Top Trio won’t be enough to stop them. Their best hope might be an insider, particularly someone in a position of power.
Honestly, as much as I dislike Fleury’s boss, I’m starting to see he’s realizing Flag is playing favorites with Bordeaux – maybe even something *more* than just favoritism. If Fleury knows a promotion isn’t happening, he might be motivated to help Peacemaker and the team just to make himself look good before everything potentially collapses. It’s not like everyone will welcome him with open arms – Economos clearly can’t stand the guy – but let’s be real, the 11th Street Kids are *always* bickering, so another strong personality probably won’t make things any worse.
