The Deadliest Evil Flash Is Back and More Terrifying than Ever

The Flash is incredibly powerful, one of DC’s strongest heroes. By tapping into the Speed Force, he can move and think at unimaginable speeds – fast enough to circle the globe and return before anyone notices, with time to spare for reflection. He’s so quick he can even reach the end of time and generate mass with his punches. However, even with all that power, the Flash isn’t the most dangerous being in the DC Universe. That title belongs to the Black Flash, a force far more deadly than anything the Flash could ever face.

Speedsters are incredibly fast, almost able to escape death itself. But death found a way to counter them, creating the Black Flash – a being specifically designed to hunt down and capture speedsters when their time comes. Since his debut, the Black Flash has been one of the Flash’s most frightening foes, and he’s now even more dangerous. A recent redesign in Asboltue Flash #15 has made the Black Flash truly terrifying, and it’s Wally West who inadvertently unleashes this new, powerful form.

The Promise of Death Is Coming

The problem began when Wally had a vision of a far-off future. He was suddenly awakened at Ralph Dibny’s headquarters to find a huge, shapeless black entity causing destruction. It brutally killed everyone in its path, leaving behind gruesome scenes. This wasn’t a dark, skeletal version of the Flash, but something completely alien. It resembled an incomplete human figure, moving with large, clawed hands, and its lower body faded into a dangerous, lightning bolt-shaped tail. It spoke slowly, as if learning how to use words, and warned Wally that he couldn’t escape by running.

Ralph was killed by the Black Flash, and Wally desperately pursued it, but couldn’t keep up. The creature escaped, leaving a path of destruction and wearing a disturbing, almost featureless smile. A future version of Wally then appeared, warning him that his relentless attempts to save his father would lead to this very outcome. Returning to the Still Point, the source of his powers, would unleash the Black Flash upon the world, resulting in widespread death. This explained Wally’s earlier, frightening visions of himself transforming into a monster like the Black Flash – a fear confirmed by his subsequent research at S.T.A.R. Labs. The Still Point itself was shaped like a massive lightning bolt combined with an Omega symbol, and the Black Flash was located at its core.

A New Death for a Darker World

This Black Flash is far more dangerous than the one we know. The original Black Flash simply sends speedsters into the Speed Force, but this version, influenced by Darkseid, seems to kill without much thought. Because the Absolute Universe doesn’t have a Speed Force, this Black Flash isn’t created by it – it is death itself, existing to destroy. Given that Flash’s powers are linked to time, and this Black Flash originated from a dangerous point beyond time, it could mean the end of everything.

This Black Flash isn’t just a threat to speedsters; it’s a destructive force aiming to unravel everything, making it far more dangerous than the first one. Wally is heading towards a future where he unleashes a monster that even his older self can’t control, and the appearance of Darkseid’s Omega symbol suggests a direct connection to the villain himself. Darkseid wants to eliminate Earth’s heroes, and the Black Flash could be the means to destroy even his most powerful opponents. If the Flash can’t stop it, then no one is safe from its inevitable arrival.
