The Division 2: Into the Dark Introduces New Toxic Dark Zone, Improves PvEvP Experience

So, Bungie’s done with major updates for Destiny 2, which is a bummer, but The Division 2 is still getting a ton of love! Their newest season, Into the Dark, really shakes things up, especially in the Dark Zone. For those who don’t know, that’s the area where you’re fighting both enemies and other players while trying to grab loot and get out โ€“ it was kinda the original extraction shooter before the genre got really popular.

We’ve made several improvements to Landmarks. Entrance turrets now deal more damage and have a brief period where players entering are safe. Landmarks will also offer better rewards overall. You’ll find Dark Zone Keys dropping more often from Landmark Bosses and tougher enemies, and Landmark Chests will refresh faster with a greater chance of containing Exotic Components.

The most significant new feature is likely the Toxic Dark Zone, a space for up to 12 players where player-versus-player combat is disabled. Here, you’ll need to work together to withstand the rising levels of Toxicity. You’ll also discover Sample Canisters, which require a Stabilization Agent to extract โ€“ and that agent can only be found in Landmark Chests or by defeating Bosses.

After you find these items, you can give them to the seasonal vendor to get better munitions โ€“ a temporary boost that improves your weapons every time you reload. Alternatively, you can combine them with three special modifiers this season to create an even stronger version, which is particularly helpful for surviving the challenging Toxic Dark Zone.
