The Division 3 Studio Ramps Up Development With Seven New Job Openings

Although Ubisoft hasn’t officially announced much about The Division 3, it appears development is still underway. Several new job postings on the company’s website indicate that Massive Entertainment’s studio in Malmö, Sweden is actively working on the game.

Ubisoft is currently hiring for several key positions, including senior programmers specializing in realization, AI, and tools, as well as leads in game design, animation, and systems design.

The Senior Realization Programmer position is quite unique. It involves joining a new team dedicated to bringing the world of The Division 3 to life. This programmer will work closely with other development teams, focusing on making characters – both player-controlled and non-player characters – feel realistic. They’ll also contribute to other important areas of the game, such as lighting, sound, and facial animations.

Although job postings haven’t shared specifics about The Division 3, a listing for a lead game designer confirms it will be an online game that’s continuously updated after release, just like previous installments. The role focuses on creating and implementing social and online features, and building the systems needed to support the game long-term.

With Ubisoft largely quiet about The Division 3, the recent exit of executive producer Julian Gerighty raised concerns about the game’s development. However, Ubisoft confirmed Gerighty’s departure and stated they still intend to move forward with the project. Gerighty himself expressed confidence in the future of The Division, saying he’s excited for players to see what the team has created.

Before leaving the company, Gerighty mentioned that The Division 3 was in development. He didn’t share many specifics, but described it as something truly impressive, adding that he couldn’t say anything further at that time.

The next installment in the Tom Clancy’s The Division series, The Division 3, was first revealed in 2023. However, the development team at Massive Entertainment was focused on Star Wars Outlaws, with Julian Gerighty leading the creative direction. Gerighty mentioned he was already planning for The Division 3 and beginning to assemble a development team for it.

Massive Entertainment has consistently updated The Division 2 with significant content. Recently, they revealed their plans for Year 8, which include letting players team up across different platforms (cross-platform multiplayer), improving the fairness of player-versus-player combat (PvP balance), and adding a brand new Incursion set at the Steel Creek hydroelectric dam.

In April, we added a new difficulty system to Escalations. This system includes fresh Mutators and Modifiers that change how players approach combat challenges.

The Division 2 is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
