‘The Drama’ Trailer Teases Zendaya and Robert Pattinson’s Wedding of the Year

Kristoffer Borgli, the director of Dream Scenario, is putting Zendaya and Robert Pattinson through a chaotic time in the trailer for his new A24 film, The Drama. The actors, who will also appear together in Dune: Part Three this December, play a couple – Emma Harwood, a bookstore clerk, and Charlie Thompson, a museum director – whose sweet romance quickly spirals into something much darker and potentially irreversible.

A key dinner scene features the four friends – played by Alana Haim (from One Battle After Another) and Mamoudou Athie (Kinds of Kindness) – sharing their most embarrassing moments. We only hear the stories of two of them, which involve a dog and, strangely, beer bottles and pornography. The scene cuts abruptly as Emma finishes speaking, leaving everyone at the table shocked. Alana Haim’s character asks if she’s telling the truth, and Charlie nervously laughs before exclaiming, “Emma, WHAT THE F!” Emma, clearly mortified, can only manage to apologize.

After that point, the main relationship in The Drama changes completely. Tension becomes clear between the couple who are about to get married, as Charlie struggles with a secret he hasn’t shared. He realizes that “true love is complicated” as their wedding day gets closer. Will they actually make it down the aisle? See for yourself when the film is released in theaters on April 3.

Robert Pattinson Needed Help Understanding Key Scene

Before the trailer was released today, Robert Pattinson shared with Première magazine that he’d gotten help from his The Drama co-star, Zendaya. He was struggling to understand a particular scene, so he called her, and their conversation helped him clarify things.

There was one scene that was really bothering me, and I was obsessively trying to figure out what it all meant. I spent days writing detailed analyses, but I was still stuck. Finally, I called Zendaya the night before we filmed it. I talked to her for about two hours, sharing all my confusion. Eventually, she calmly pointed out that the line simply meant what it said – there wasn’t some deeper, hidden meaning. I’d been stressing over it for three days!
