With so much talk about a potential retro-style Star Fox game and a remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time coming out this year, it’s easy to overlook another upcoming title. That game is The Duskbloods from FromSoftware, a player-versus-environment and player-versus-player game launching only on the Nintendo Switch 2. While it’s scheduled for release this year, reliable insider NateTheHate suggests it likely won’t be available this Summer.
The game is now expected to release later this year, possibly in October, rather than earlier. The reason for this delay isn’t clear, but it’s likely due to the game’s multiplayer focus. Like Elden Ring, the developers will probably conduct several closed and open playtests to gather feedback from players before the final launch.
The team is also developing Elden Ring Tarnished Edition for the Switch 2. While it was initially delayed due to performance issues, recent progress has been promising. Regardless, the fact that the studio seems to be carefully working on The Duskbloods suggests the game is either very important to them, or simply a huge project that requires a lot of development time.
It’s still too early to say for sure, but so far we know the game will have more than 12 characters to play as, each with their own story and special skills. Matches will support up to eight players, and you’ll be able to designate some as friends and others as enemies. We’ll learn more in a new trailer or detailed preview coming this summer.
