The Expanse: Osiris Reborn is Recasting Its Male Lead Following Closed Beta Feedback

I was so excited to get into the closed beta for The Expanse: Osiris Reborn last month, and it’s awesome to see Owlcat Games is really listening to the feedback! Over seven thousand of us filled out the survey, and they’ve shared some plans for improvements. The biggest news for me is they’re recasting the voice actor for the male main character and J – I’m curious to hear what that will sound like!

So, the team and I have been listening back to the game, and while the voice actors for the main guy and J did a great job, we felt like their performances weren’t quite hitting the emotional beats we were aiming for. Because of that, we’ve made the tough decision to recast those roles. You’ll also notice J won’t be talking quite as much during combat now, we’re tweaking things to make sure everything feels just right.

There are plenty of exciting updates coming, including more realistic character movements and facial expressions. The game’s request system, which wasn’t fully completed, is getting a complete overhaul, and the cover system will be improved to be simpler and more user-friendly.

The game’s story has a specific style, but some parts didn’t quite fit. To address this, the developers are refining conversations to make characters feel more believable and react more naturally to the situation. There are many other improvements coming, but the team wants to reveal them through gameplay rather than just talking about them.

Despite some criticism of the beta version, many aspects of the game – including the graphics, combat, music, and overall atmosphere of Larry and the Pinkwater 4 station – have received positive feedback. Owlcat Games is currently reviewing player feedback, but the sci-fi action RPG appears to be launching successfully.

Get ready for The Expanse: Osiris Reborn! It’s coming to Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC in Spring 2027. We’ll likely have another chance to try it out with a beta test soon, so keep an eye out for updates. You can also read about what we thought of the first beta if you’re curious.
