The Fantastic Four: First Steps’ Disney+ Release Confirmed (& It’s The Version We All Want To See)

Superhero movies really shine in premium theaters like IMAX. Their big action and exciting visuals are meant to be seen on the largest screens, pulling you completely into the story and world. While going to the theater is the best way to experience these films, studios are now trying to bring that feeling home. Some Blu-ray releases and streaming versions of these movies are expanding the picture to fill the entire screen during key moments, just like you’d see in IMAX. Several Marvel films on Disney+ already do this, and The Fantastic Four: First Steps will be next.

Disney has confirmed that The Fantastic Four: First Steps will start streaming on Disney+ on November 5th. The film will be available in IMAX Enhanced format on the platform, a significant upgrade from its September release on other platforms, where only the standard version was offered for rent or purchase.

IMAX Enhancements Will Make Fantastic Four a Must Watch on Disney+

If you’ve been waiting for a reason to rewatch First Steps, its arrival on Disney+ is a great opportunity to revisit the origins of Marvel’s Fantastic Four. The movie is visually impressive, largely due to its unique production design which creates a retro-futuristic world inspired by the 1960s. This gives First Steps a distinctive look compared to other Marvel films, effectively transporting viewers to a different part of the multiverse. While it’s currently unknown which scenes will be upgraded for IMAX, it would be fantastic to see the opening moments – like the fast-paced news report showing the Fantastic Four fighting villains – enhanced to quickly pull viewers into the story.

I truly believe any scene with Galactus will be incredible. He’s such a huge character, and I think showing him in IMAX would really emphasize just how massive he is. It would be amazing to see all the detail they put into making him look exactly like he does in the comics, and honestly, it would make him even more terrifying! That’s exactly what you want for a final battle where the Fantastic Four are trying to save everything – you need a villain who feels truly unstoppable.

Following the release of Captain America: Brave New World, The Fantastic Four: First Steps is now available on Disney+ with IMAX enhancements – a feature not given to Thunderbolts despite its theatrical IMAX showings. While Brave New World didn’t perform well in theaters, it became a huge hit on Disney+, showing that people are still interested in Marvel content. Given the positive reviews for First Steps, it’s likely to attract a large audience on the streaming platform and could quickly become one of the most popular titles. The IMAX upgrade makes Disney+ a great place to experience the film from the comfort of your home.

It’s a shame the IMAX features weren’t available on every home release of First Steps, but thankfully fans still have a way to see at least some of the movie as it was meant to be seen – in full screen. These films are made for larger, high-quality displays, and deserve to be enjoyed that way even after they leave cinemas. The Fantastic Four: First Steps should look particularly good when it’s available to stream on big-screen TVs this fall.
