I just saw some really disappointing news – it looks like Nexon has shut down Neople, the studio that made The First Berserker: Khazan! Apparently, everyone who worked on the game has been moved to work on other projects now. It’s a shame, I was hoping to see more from that team.
The team behind the game The First Berserker: Khazan has been disbanded, likely because of lower-than-expected sales. A delayed launch in China contributed to these results. Nexon, the game’s publisher, has reassigned the Neople team members to other projects where their skills can be used. Despite winning three awards at the 2025 Korea Game Awards – including Top Excellence and awards for graphics and voice acting – the future of The First Berserker series is now uncertain.
To mark the one-year anniversary of The First Berserker: Khazan, Nexon and Neople shared impressive statistics showing how players have engaged with the game since its March 2025 launch. In a message to fans, creative director Junho Lee expressed his deep commitment to the game, saying he considered it a career-defining project. He was thrilled by the enthusiastic response from players, who provided valuable feedback and support.
The action RPG The First Berserker: Khazan was first released on March 27, 2025, and is currently available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC through Steam. Final Weapon gave the game a 4/5 rating, praising its challenging combat and impressive boss battles, and describing it as a strong entry in the Soulslike genre.
