The First Stranger Things Spinoff Just Dropped on Netflix (& You Can All 10 Episodes Right Now)

Netflix is continuing the story of Stranger Things with a brand new spinoff series. Only four months after the original show ended its five-season run, the adventures continue with Eleven, Mike, Will, Dustin, Lucas, and Max. All episodes are now available to stream.

Stranger Things: Tales From ’85 is a new animated series that bridges the gap between those two seasons. Created by Eric Robles and the Duffer Brothers, and featuring a new voice cast, all ten half-hour episodes are currently streaming on Netflix as of April 23rd.

Stranger Things: Tales From ‘85 Expands the Lore of the Upside Down and Hawkins

Stranger Things: Tales From ’85 fills in the story between the end of Season 2 and the beginning of Season 3, showing what happened after Eleven closed the gate to the Upside Down. The series centers on how things from that alternate dimension can affect our world, creating strange and dangerous situations. Each episode generally features a new monster or creature that has escaped into Hawkins—think zombie pumpkins, a snow shark, and a massive, vine-like monster. Beyond the scares, the series also focuses on developing the characters and their relationships, including the growing romance between Mike and Eleven and the deepening connection between Max and Lucas.

It’s still unclear if Stranger Things: Tales From ’85 is a success. While early reactions are mixed, the series does a good job of recreating the feel of the original Stranger Things and boasts impressive animation, particularly its depiction of a snowy Hawkins. However, it’s debatable whether the show adds anything significant to the overall story. Currently, it appears to be a nice, but ultimately unnecessary, addition to the Stranger Things world.

Will There Be a Stranger Things: Tales From ’85 Season 2?

For now, there will only be one season of Stranger Things: Tales From ’85, consisting of 10 episodes. While Netflix hasn’t officially announced a renewal, people involved with the show are hoping to continue the story and connect it back to the start of season 3, as stated by Robles in an interview with Radio Times.
