The Flash’s New Power Is Broken, But What Does It Mean for His Future?

I’ve always been fascinated by the Flash, and it’s crazy to see how powerful he’s become! He started out as just a really fast runner, but now he’s basically connected to this universal energy source – the Speed Force – and can do things like travel between worlds and even rewind time! Honestly, all the Flashes are incredibly strong, but for me, Wally West is the fastest of them all. He just gets the Speed Force in a way no one else does, almost like it’s a part of his soul. He’s even beaten Superman in a race and outrun Death itself! And the stuff he can do with his speed… like building up infinite mass with a single punch or taking speed from everything around him? It’s mind-blowing!

Wally West, already known for his incredible speed and powers, has gained an even more remarkable ability. In the current run of The Flash comic (starting in 2023), he began experiencing unpredictable visions of the future – seeing events that would inevitably happen. At first, these visions were random, but in issue #33, Wally learned to control them. Now, he can consciously look into the future whenever he chooses, which dramatically increases his potential and opens up exciting new possibilities.

The Future Under Flash’s to Command

For most of this issue, The Flash desperately searched the city for a hidden nuclear bomb. He quickly checked all businesses and public buildings, then even started searching homes, but couldn’t find it. To make things worse, his special insight ability wasn’t working. After talking with Linda, Wally realized he hadn’t checked the Central City bank. He teamed up with Captain Cold to disable the bomb, broke into the bank, and they successfully found and stopped it just in time. Wally then sped off to track down the person who planted it.

The Flash discovered George Stebbings, a businessman attempting to ruin the economy by contaminating Central City’s gold supply and profiting from the resulting panic. Flash managed to stop him, and a sudden burst of insight revealed the server Stebbings was using to create distractions. This experience also helped Wally West understand his new power – a kind of instinctive, subconscious intuition. He learned he could control this ‘Flash of Insight’ like a muscle, consciously triggering it whenever needed. But now that he can control it, he wonders if that’s actually beneficial.

Unlimited Access to a Confirmed Future

The ability to see the future is powerful and risky by itself, but combined with the Flash’s already incredible speed, it’s an overwhelming advantage. The source of his powers, the Speed Force, is deeply linked to time, and the visions he receives accurately predict what will happen. Every future event Wally has foreseen has come true, and these visions have even created paradoxical situations where he learns new information from the future. This likely means Wally will start using his foresight to prevent tragedies and stop crimes, though that could easily lead to unforeseen problems.

I think Wally, as the Flash, will initially use his ability to see glimpses of the future to greatly improve Central City. But as he uses this power more and more, he risks becoming overwhelmed by the responsibility of preventing terrible events, or getting lost in possible futures and losing touch with the present. It would be simple for him to rely on seeing the future to solve crimes, which could leave him vulnerable to enemies who manipulate time or events beyond his normal powers. This ability could become a weakness, and while I believe Wally wouldn’t become a controlling figure obsessed with preventing crime, it’s a real danger.
