On an exciting yet unfortunate turn, the opening act at the Fortune Hotel unfolded today (6th August) in an unexpected manner, with a competing duo being disqualified before they could enter the hotel premises.
With a buzz of anticipation, the group of 11 individuals stepped onto the sandy beach, eager to begin the events. However, the initial surprise of the series was sprung upon them by host Stephen Mangan as he announced that only 10 rooms had been prepared, implying that one unfortunate team would have to depart without even setting up their belongings.
In simpler terms, the initial hurdle found teams desperately trying to decipher a hint from a newspaper. Five teams secured their spots in the competition following this task, while the fate of the other six remained uncertain.
Upon their late arrival, it appeared as though Fred and Min might be leaving first. However, a surprising revelation by Mangan changed the course – the destinies of all players rested within the briefcases. Unfortunately, this twist meant that beloved friends Chelsey and Briony would be returning home.
However, learning that they will meet each other on the runway at the airport and be informed that one duo won’t return is quite a tough piece of news.
In order to maintain the excitement and avoid accidentally revealing the secret, neither Mangan nor anyone else knew which briefcase contained the early checkout pass, ensuring the suspense remained high.
He went on to say: “Watching them leave on the boat brought a pang of sadness as I empathized with their tough situation. You must have been thrilled to be selected for The Fortune Hotel, traveling all the way to the Caribbean. Despite coming ninth out of 11 in that challenge, which isn’t terrible, the next moment you find yourself departing.
In an exciting fashion, Mangan hinted that there are even more thrilling instances ahead, emphasizing: “This is merely the start. The entire performance is brimming with such intense moments.
The Fortune Hotel continued on Thursday 7th August at 9pm on ITV and ITVX.
