2024 offered some fantastic television, with shows like the historical epic Shōgun and the compelling dramedy Baby Reindeer capturing audiences. However, a new workplace comedy really stood out for its humor. Now, less than a year after its first season aired on traditional TV, the show is back for more, and viewers who don’t have cable won’t have to wait for it to become available on streaming services.
The popular NBC sitcom St. Denis Medical, created by Justin Spitzer and Eric Ledgin (both known for Superstore, and Spitzer also for The Office), is back for its second season. Many critics have compared the show to The Office, but set in a hospital. It follows the hardworking and stressed staff at a hospital in Oregon, and stars Betsy McLendon-Covey, Kyla Tolman, Megan Lawson, Josh Leeper, Jon Kim, David Alan Grier, and Kaliko Kauahi. Season 2 premiered on NBC November 3rd with two episodes, which are now available to stream on Peacock. New episodes air every Monday on NBC and become available on Peacock the next day.
St. Denis Medical Is One of the Funniest Shows on TV
St. Denis Medical is a consistently funny show. It uses the same documentary-style filming as shows like The Office and Parks and Recreation, finding humor in the everyday craziness of a busy hospital. From scheduling nightmares to funny mishaps during serious moments, the series expertly mixes lighthearted comedy with genuine emotion, creating a show that’s both charming and delightfully chaotic.
Everyone’s talking about the new sitcom, St. Denis Medical, which feels like a comforting blend of shows like Superstore, Scrubs, and Parks and Recreation. But what really makes the show work is the cast. Veteran comedic actors like McLendon-Covey, Grier, and Tolman have fantastic chemistry from the very beginning, bringing their charming characters to life.
Critics and viewers have loved the series, giving it an 81% score from critics and a 75% rating from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes. While Season 2 hasn’t been rated yet, early reviews suggest it’s just as good and funny as the first season. Joel Keller of Decider praised the show, saying St. Denis Medical has found its footing in its second season and effectively builds stories and humor around its characters – something all workplace comedies should aim for.
Will There Be a St. Denis Medical Season 3?
NBC hasn’t yet decided if St. Denis Medical will be back for a third season, so its future is uncertain after the current second season. The show started Season 2 strong, attracting 2.5 million viewers and a 0.34 rating among adults aged 18-49, as reported by TV Series Finale. If these numbers stay consistent, a renewal is probable.
New episodes of St. Denis Medical air weekly at 8 p.m. ET on NBC and stream the next day on Peacock.
