In the third episode, she initiates an investigation to link outdoor fires to activities she suspects Dave might be involved in. This involves questioning different people for information, and while some of it strays from the actual narrative of “Smoke”, there’s one unusual path she takes that turns out to be crucial. Considering Michelle’s unconventional approach to problem-solving, it seems Dave might find himself in a precarious situation if he isn’t more cautious. In fact, her suspicions about him being the limping arsonist are mounting, given that she has an investigation board at home dedicated solely to examining his actions around the time the fires occurred. It’s plausible that she won’t have much difficulty uncovering how he started numerous other fires.
