Ahead of its third season, The Last of Us is adding two new actors to its cast, alongside several familiar faces who will be returning.
The HBO show, based on the popular video game series by Naughty Dog, has received praise from critics and viewers alike over its first two seasons.
Deadline reports that Patrick Wilson, known for “The Conjuring,” and Jason Ritter, currently starring in “Matlock,” will be joining Bella Ramsey and Kaitlyn Dever in season three.
Wilson will play the role of Abby’s father, Jerry Anderson, and Ritter will portray Hanley, a new character who is a soldier with the Washington Liberation Front.

Alongside these two new additions, three returning faces have been promoted to regular roles.
Mel, Nora, and Owen—characters first seen in season 2—will be central to the upcoming third season. The story will shift its focus, giving Abby a more prominent role than Ellie.
Isabela Merced, Gabriel Luna, and Jeffrey Wright are all back for the next installment, and they’ll be joined by new cast members Clea DuVall and Jorge Lendeborg Jr.
After the huge popularity of its first two seasons, Craig Mazin will be the only showrunner for season 3. Neil Druckmann, who previously co-led the show, is stepping down to concentrate on his next project, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet.
Mazin, a well-known writer and director, is now confirmed to lead the HBO adaptation of the popular 2023 video game, Baldur’s Gate 3. This will be his second project adapting a video game for television.
