I’m so excited for season 2 of The Light in the Hall! It’s called Still Waters, and it takes us back to the town of Llanemlyn. This time, everyone’s fighting over a plan to make the local reservoir bigger, and it’s bringing up a lot of old drama and secrets. It sounds like things are about to get really intense!
The story unfolds across two different time periods, starting in 1995 with the death of activist Llyr Owen (shown in the image above) in a bombing. His cousin, Rhys, is then arrested and imprisoned for the attack, according to the story summary.
Okay, so picture this: a guy named Rhys comes back to his hometown after thirty years, and it’s all kicking off again with protests. I’m immediately hooked! As a young trainee journalist, Caryl starts digging into what’s happening, and things get really interesting. She uncovers all sorts of old secrets that have been shaping this town for decades – it’s a seriously gripping story about protest, people dealing with guilt, and how the past affects the present. It feels like one of those movies where everything you thought you knew gets turned on its head.
Siân Reese-Williams reprises her role as Caryl in the new season of The Light in the Hall. But who are the other actors joining her?
Read on to find out.

Siân Reese-Williams plays Caryl

Caryl is a journalism trainee and the only character who appeared in both the first and second seasons. She thinks Rhys Owen may not be guilty of the crime he’s accused of.
You probably recognize Siân Reese-Williams from shows like Emmerdale, Downfall: The Power of Huw Edwards, Hidden, Wolf, and 35 Diwrnod. She’s also appeared in a number of other projects.
Mark Lewis Jones plays Rhys Owen

Rhys Owen just got out of prison after being convicted for a bombing that tragically killed his cousin.
If you’re wondering what else Mark Lewis Jones has appeared in, he’s known for his roles in shows like Keeping Faith, Living a Lie, Stella, and Out There.
Maeve Courtier-Lilley plays Mabli Davies Owen

Who is Mabli Davies Owen? One of the lead protestors against the plans to expand the reservoir.
You may recognize Maeve Courtier-Lilley from her roles in shows like Run Away, The Red King, and The Outpost.
Nia Roberts plays Eve Davies

Who is Eve Davies? A lecturer and Mabli’s mum. She also used to date Llyr.
What else has Nia Roberts been in? Her credits include Tree on a Hill, Yr Amgueddfa and Hidden.
Robert Glenister plays Robert Davies

Okay, so Robert Davies is a key figure in all of this – he’s the guy from the company pushing to expand the reservoir. But more personally, he’s Eve’s father and that makes him Mabli’s grandfather. It adds another layer to everything, knowing there’s a family connection right in the middle of it all.
Oh, Robert Glenister? He’s fantastic! Beyond his well-known roles, he’s actually been in a ton of great stuff. I especially loved him in Law & Order: UK, but he also popped up in Hustle and Spooks. More recently, I really enjoyed his work on Sherwood, too – definitely check that one out if you haven’t!
Tom Rhys Harries plays Hari Breckon

Who is Hari Breckon? Mabli’s best friend and one of the protestors.
Besides his current work, Tom Rhys Harries has also acted in White Lines, Wolf King, Suspicion, and Unforgotten.
Wyn Bowen Harries plays Bryn Owen

Who is Bryn Owen? Rhys’s dad. They have a strained relationship.
What else has Wyn Bowen Harries been in? His credits include Rough Cut and Stat.
Additional cast includes:
- Matthew Gravelle (Broadchurch, Living a Lie) as Gareth Breckon – a police officer.
- Gillian Elisa (Alys, A Mind to Kill) as Eunice – the pub landlady.
