UltiZero Games, the developer of Lost Soul Aside, is aiming to significantly improve their PS5 action game, similar to how No Man’s Sky was revamped after its initial release. They’re starting tomorrow, November 18th, 2025, with a large update that includes a new game mode and several additional features.
A new game mode called Surge of Voidrax has been added. It challenges players to survive 100 increasingly difficult waves of enemies, testing both their stamina and tactical thinking. You’ll have full access to all weapons and skills from the main game, and you can earn resources to unlock unique cosmetic items by completing specific waves.
Face off against challenging bosses and enemies to prove your fighting ability. Between battles, you can visit Liana’s Shop to buy health, improve your gear, and boost your strength in the Arena. “Surge of Voidrax” isn’t just a game mode—it’s a real challenge to your skill, planning, and determination. How long can you survive?
I’m so excited to hear the core game itself is getting some improvements! The PlayStation Blog just posted all the details about the new options and features they’re adding, so I can’t wait to check those out.
- Skip the prologue
Want to jump straight into the action? You can now skip the introductory story and begin playing Lost Soul Aside with its fast-paced and exciting combat.
- Voidrax Pathfinder helps with navigation
Having trouble with difficult puzzles or finding your way around? The Voidrax Pathfinder can help! It guides you to what you need and solves puzzles, so you can explore and enjoy the game at your own speed.
- New skins
Express yourself with fresh new looks! Customize your gear with accessories for your “X” weapon, iconic Crystal weapons, and beautiful armor and knight outfits – everything you need to create a style that’s uniquely you.
- Improved cutscenes
We’ve completely updated the cutscenes to feel more like a movie! Characters now show emotions more realistically thanks to improved animations, and the lighting and shadows have been enhanced to create a more immersive atmosphere. We’ve also added lip-sync animations that match the environment, making the storytelling experience truly cinematic.
The studio then details a few more technical improvements included in the patch:
- Customizable controls, allowing players to tailor button layouts to their preferences.
- Refined core combat actions like rolling and double jumps, with fine-tuned skill feel for weapons like the Scythe and Greatsword—making combos flow effortlessly.
Game director Yang Bing says this Lost Soul Aside update offers a lot – from the incredibly difficult ‘Surge of Voidrax’ challenge to customized gameplay with the Voidrax Pathfinder, plus improved storytelling and plenty of new character looks. The goal is to create a more immersive and enjoyable experience for players.
This update aims to improve our previously reviewed PS5 game, which we described as having great potential but also significant flaws. In our review of Lost Soul Aside, we gave it a 6 out of 10, citing weak characters and performance problems. While exciting combat could have overcome these issues, the enemies were too resilient and the fighting lacked impact. Lost Soul Aside tries to emulate the best games in its genre, but ultimately doesn’t quite measure up to its inspirations.
