After a fantastic 2025, the anime world is starting 2026 strong with a ton of new shows and returning favorites. January will be especially busy, featuring highly anticipated seasons like Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 and Hell’s Paradise Season 2, alongside a variety of different genres. One of the biggest returns is Oshi no Ko, which is coming back after a year and a half break with its third season premiering on January 14, 2026.
I’m really getting excited as the release date approaches – they’ve been sharing more and more previews! The latest is a new teaser trailer that finally reveals the opening theme song for the new season. It’s called “TEST ME” by CHANMINA, and it sounds exactly like what you’d expect from Oshi no Ko – a catchy pop song that really fits the show’s vibe. It definitely feels right, but whether it’s better than the openings from the first two seasons? We’ll have to wait and see. Along with the trailer, they also dropped a new piece of artwork, giving us our first look at what’s coming up in the next story arc.
Oshi no Ko Season 3 Reveals New Opening Song and Visual
The upcoming season will follow Aqua and Ruby as they continue their quest to find their mother’s killer. Picking up where the first two seasons left off, Season 3 promises to bring them closer to solving the mystery. Meanwhile, the anime will also focus on Ruby Hoshino and her idol group, B-Komachi, as they achieve their first big success. Ruby’s growing popularity, hinted at in the new artwork which resembles their mother Ai, is expected to attract the attention of the killer, giving Aqua a crucial clue in his investigation.
The next season of the show will likely continue to delve into the stories of Akane and Kana, just as it has throughout the series. Both actresses are working to become more famous while also developing feelings for Aqua, which promises a season filled with as much – or even more – drama than we’ve seen before. While the exact number of episodes isn’t confirmed yet, it’s likely to be around 11 or 12, similar to the first two seasons. This length would bring the story about seventy-five percent of the way through, potentially allowing the creators to announce a final season after Season 3 finishes.
