People who’ve been hoping to see Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz team up for another Mummy film have been waiting patiently, and now it looks like their wait might finally be coming to an end.
Universal Pictures has announced a new release date for the fourth Mummy movie. Directed by Radio Silence (Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett), the film will now be in theaters on October 15, 2027.
The film is now being released eight months earlier than originally planned, moving the date from May 19, 2028. This change is one of several decisions recently made by the studio.
A new Blumhouse horror film has been scheduled for October 7, 2027, taking the original date intended for a fourth Mummy movie. Meanwhile, Joseph Kosinski’s Miami Vice ’85, starring Michael B. Jordan and Austin Butler, has been pushed back from August 6, 2027, to May 19, 2028.

Earlier this year, the filmmakers behind The Mummy hinted that if Rachel Weisz returns for a fourth film, the events of The Tomb of the Dragon Emperor might not be considered part of the official storyline. This is due to the fact that Maria Bello played Evelyn Carnahan in that third film, replacing Weisz.
Bettinelli-Olpin explained that Fraser and Weisz joined the project because of the script written by Dave Coggeshall. He described it as having a lot of emotional depth and well-developed characters.
Look, as a big fan of their work, I’m hearing Brendan and Rachel are only going to sign on if the script really grabs them. And from what I understand, they were genuinely excited by it – it’s a solid script, and honestly, it sounds like it’s going to be a blast to film.

It’s currently unclear if any other actors from the original movies will be in the new film alongside Fraser and Weisz. John Hannah, who played Evelyn’s brother Jonathan in the previous three films, mentioned earlier this year that he hadn’t received any official word about being asked to reprise his role.
He acknowledged the rumors, saying it would be enjoyable to work with the group again. He admitted he’d heard the same speculation as everyone else and thought a reunion would be great.
The Mummy 4 is set to be released in cinemas on 15 October 2027.
You can now watch the first three The Mummy movies on Sky Movies and NOW.
