The trailer for “The Partisan” arrives in your mailbox, a film based on the real-life tale of Krystyna Skarbek, Britain’s pioneering and most audacious female spy during World War II. Born in Poland, she was the initial woman to serve Britain as a special agent, holding that position longer than any other and proving one of the most effective. Nicknamed Churchill’s favorite spy and dubbed Britain’s most glamorous, this valiant hero, who inspired the original James Bond girl, Vesper Lynd in Ian Fleming’s debut novel Casino Royale, is a true embodiment of courage.
1939 setting: A bold and determined woman named Krystyna Skarbek, motivated by the safety of her mother, convinces a mysterious British agent called Trenchcoat to allow her to infiltrate Nazi-occupied Poland for intelligence gathering. However, the mission doesn’t go as planned, causing Krystyna great personal loss and fueling her determination to make her life meaningful.
Four years later, having endured the horrors of war and earning respect, Krystyna is dropped into southern France. Her task: evaluate the fractured French Resistance and approve a significant British arms delivery. Assuming the guise of a schoolteacher, Krystyna infiltrates a precarious network. Betrayal emerges, putting the resistance at risk, but Krystyna disobeys orders and takes a daring stance. Alongside her few allies – including the legendary but damaged spy Roger and the tenacious resistance leader Armand – they lure German intelligence hunters into a deadly trap, bringing hope for victory.
Yet, the war has even more deception and danger in store… Krystyna chooses to confront these challenges head-on, as she embarks on the mission that will shape her legacy, wounded and standing alone.
In this rephrased version, the film is helmed by director James Marquand. The leading role is taken by Morgane Polanski, known for her work in The French Dispatch. Acting alongside her is Malcolm McDowell, a cinematic legend, portraying the character of undercover British agent Trenchcoat.
The film “The Partisan” will have its first screening worldwide in September. It will be available in theaters starting from October 3rd, and can be watched at home on October 27th.
