The Pitt’s Noah Wyle Breaks Silence on Supriya Ganesh’s Exit From Show

Someone watch Baby Jane Doe while Noah Wyle addresses a major character exit on The Pitt.

After the announcement that Supriya Ganesh, known for her role as Dr. Samira Mohan in the popular HBO Max series, would be leaving after the second season, the show’s lead actor and creator shared their thoughts.

Noah, who plays Dr. Robby Robinavitch on the medical drama, explained to Variety at a recent event that cast changes are a natural part of the show. Because emergency rooms see a lot of turnover, the writers are always working to balance how much time passes between seasons while keeping the existing cast believable. They do this by introducing new characters or giving more prominent roles to those already on the show, all while trying to keep the stories interesting.

Despite the show’s writers wanting to keep things realistic – emergency rooms have a lot of staff turnover – Noah, 54, stressed how much they’ll miss Supriya, who has played a resident on The Pitt since it began in 2025.

Supriya has been a vital part of the show from the start. Dr. Mohan is a fan favorite, and I’ve really enjoyed working with Supriya and playing opposite her. We’re sad to see her go and wish her the best in whatever she does next.

As for whether the show will feature any new faces next season?

Noah said, “Like we usually do, we’ll have a few new medical students join us, and likely another one or two residents as well.”

R. Scott Gemmill, one of the show’s creators, agreed with the ER star, suggesting that the show’s storyline could lead to further cast members leaving or joining the series.

The show naturally experiences cast changes, reflecting the realities of the medical field. As doctors and nurses gain experience, they often move on to new opportunities, and the show aims to portray that accurately. While it’s unfortunate to see actors leave, the producers believe the show provides a strong starting point for their careers, and that’s what they can focus on.

Dr. Mohan is leaving for a fellowship program, but the hospital is gaining a new regular cast member. Ayesha Harris, who has been playing night resident Dr. Parker Ellis for the past two seasons, will now be a series regular.

Ayesha shared on Instagram on April 2nd that Dr. Ellis still has student loans to pay, joking, ‘We gotta work a double shift!’ She added that she’d been wanting to share the story for some time.

And she also added some parting words for her costar.

She also expressed gratitude to Supriya Ganesh, calling her a true friend from the very beginning. She then celebrated the start of their third season together, enthusiastically saying, ‘Let’s go!’

Supriya, age 28, hasn’t spoken publicly about leaving the show, but she has talked before about how proud she was of the way her character developed over time.

Supriya told TopMob News in January that the person in question has become much more self-assured. She added that it feels like this person is comfortable and confident working in the emergency room, and that she intentionally tried to create a relaxed environment to help facilitate better communication.
