Iko Uwais, the incredible action star from The Raid, is back in a new thriller where he does what he does best: intense action. Known for his roles in films like The Raid series, The Night Comes for Us, and Headshot, Uwais plays an outlaw who’s forced to return to a life of violence to protect his community from dangerous criminals. Luckily for the neighborhood, and unluckily for the bad guys, he’s a master of combat.
Iko Uwais stars in Pendekar: Warrior, a new film resulting from a partnership between Asia Media Alliance Group and Nation Pictures. The two studios have joined forces to create action movies from Indonesia and Southeast Asia for international audiences. Like his previous films, The Raid and Merantau, Pendekar: Warrior will showcase Uwais’ impressive Silat martial arts skills.
Here’s a first look at Pendekar: Warrior, a new action thriller that promises a gritty and intense experience. A recently released image shows Iko Uwais as a brooding and determined outlaw, drenched in rain. The film is clearly inspired by Westerns and hints at plenty of action and bloodshed.

Iko Uwais burst onto the action scene with the critically acclaimed films The Raid (2011) and The Raid 2 (2014). Surprisingly, he’s had trouble finding a truly great role in Hollywood. Despite appearing in big movies like Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Mile 22, Snake Eyes, and Expend4bles, the talented martial artist hasn’t gotten the recognition he deserves. While audiences outside Indonesia catch on to his skills, Pendekar: Warrior promises to be another thrilling success for him back home.
Pendekar: Warrior tells the story of a highly skilled martial artist, formerly an elite Silat practitioner, who is released from prison and wants to live a peaceful life. However, his plans are disrupted when a dangerous crime syndicate takes over his neighborhood and threatens those he cares about. He’s forced to confront his violent past and becomes the only hope for his community as the conflict escalates into a full-blown war.
Pendekar: Warrior brings back Uwais, the star of The Night Comes for Us, working with that film’s producer, John Radel. It promises to be a straightforward, exciting action movie where Uwais can really show off his incredible fighting abilities.
