I noticed Games Workshop started revealing bits of news about Warhammer 40,000 – everything from their video games to the tabletop miniatures – on October 23rd, 2025. It seemed like they were building excitement for Warhammer Day on October 25th.

A new trailer just dropped for Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2, a fast-paced first-person shooter. It’s designed to feel like the classic shooters you loved from the 90s – think Wolfenstein 3D, Duke Nukem, and the original DOOM.

The trailer highlights the intense, action-packed gunfights as the Space Marine, Malum Caedo, defeats the evil Chaos forces using his Bolter rifle.

The trailer also reveals you won’t just play as Malum Caedo in Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2. You’ll also control Nyra Veyrath, a powerful and well-known Sister of Battle (also known as the Adeptus Sororitas).

The Sisters of Battle are a powerful, all-female military order dedicated to the Ecclesiarchy – the official church of the Imperium of Man. They uphold religious faith in the God Emperor, often through force.

I’ve always been fascinated by the Sisters of Battle. They’re so different from the Space Marines! While the Space Marines are basically created in a lab as perfect soldiers, the Sisters are regular people – well, regular after years of incredibly tough training and being totally devoted to their faith. It’s amazing how powerful they become through sheer willpower and belief.

These individuals are easily angered and quick to label anything they disagree with as heresy. Their unwavering devotion to the God Emperor is incredibly strong, allowing them to resist the corrupting influence of Chaos and survive encounters with its forces.

The new gameplay trailer for Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2 showcases the combat skills of a Sister of Battle. We see Nyra Veyrath quickly moving around the battlefield, eliminating cultists and Daemons using classic Sister of Battle weapons like the Bolter, Flamer, and Melta, and supplementing her attacks with a Power Sword.

The original Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun is one of my favorite Warhammer 40,000 action games.

I rated the game 4 out of 5 stars because of its retro 1990s graphics, the huge number of tough enemies, and its incredibly fast-paced, satisfyingly violent gameplay. It’s so quick, it even feels faster than Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2.

I’m really excited to see the sequel building on the strengths of the first game. The addition of a Sister of Battle as a playable character is fantastic – she seems just as engaging to play as Malum Caedo, with her quick movements and powerful weapons like Force Swords, bolters, flamers, and Melta bombs.
