After only three episodes, the new series, The Testaments, is gaining popularity, and its creator hints that there are many more stories planned.
The new series based on The Handmaid’s Tale premiered on Disney+ and Hulu on April 8th. After just four episodes, the world of Gilead feels more threatening than ever, as the story is told from the perspectives of Agnes (Chase Infiniti) and Daisy (Lucy Halliday).
The Testaments takes place in a school where young women are trained to be wives, overseen by Aunt Lydia (Ann Dowd). The story centers on these girls as they grapple with and start to fight against the lives they’ve been given.
Critics have given the series an 89% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and it’s currently the most popular show on Disney+ in the UK.

How much longer will the show continue? Creator Bruce Miller says they already have a plan for the future.
I recently read in The Hollywood Reporter that Miller knows how he envisions the story ultimately wrapping up, but he’s still figuring out exactly how to get there. It sounds like he has a good idea of the destination, even if the road to get there is still being mapped out!
He estimated the show would likely run for three to five seasons, or roughly 30 to 50 episodes, to give it a proper conclusion considering the demands of the television industry.
Miller added he could “write Agnes scenes for the rest of his life” if he could.

The Testaments season 1 is currently airing new episodes weekly, running through to May 27.
The show, inspired by Margaret Atwood’s book – she’s also the author of The Handmaid’s Tale – has already departed from the original novel in several ways.
Miller explains he initially aimed to stay very close to Atwood’s original story, but he realized some important changes were necessary to make it work as a film.
Changes were made to the story’s timeline, shortening a fifteen-year leap to just four years. The ages of the characters Daisy and Agnes were also adjusted so they could be in school together.
The Testaments is available to watch now on Disney+.
