The creator of The Traitors UK hinted that the next season, season five, will include a smart new element now that the ‘Secret Traitor’ role has been removed.
The popular BBC show added a new twist in its fourth season, which aired recently. Host Claudia Winkleman surprised both the contestants and viewers by secretly selecting a player to act as a ‘Secret Traitor’ – someone with a significant advantage over the others.
The secret traitor knew who the murderers were each night, but the turret villains didn’t. They had to pick their next target from a list provided by the traitor.
After the season ended, it was confirmed that the ‘Secret Traitor’ storyline, which fans had mixed feelings about, wouldn’t be used in future seasons.

Stephen Lambert, the CEO of Studio Lambert, said they’re constantly looking for ways to keep the show exciting and innovative. He confirmed there will be new elements in the next season, but indicated the ‘Secret Traitor’ aspect likely won’t be one of them.
We enjoy making the show, but a big part of the fun for viewers is knowing who the Traitors are. Without that element, it could become quite annoying.

Okay, so I just watched the BAFTA TV Awards nominations drop, and let me tell you, The Traitors and its celebrity spin-off are seriously contenders! They’re up for three awards, including the big one – best reality show. Plus, the incredible Claudia Winkleman is nominated for her performance hosting, which is so deserved. And if you loved the moment Alan Carr was crowned the winner of The Celebrity Traitors, you’ll be happy to know it’s in the running for the P&O Cruises Memorable Moment Award – and you get to vote for it! Definitely a show to watch (and vote for!) at the awards.
Even with a lot of great shows on TV this year, The Traitors and its celebrity version are predicted to be strong contenders for awards, and have already received recognition with two BAFTA TV Craft Awards.
