Fans of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms have reason to celebrate! HBO’s newest Game of Thrones spin-off is a hit with both critics and viewers. The show has already been renewed for a second season, which is expected to arrive in 2027. Filming began in December 2025, suggesting it won’t face the long delays that have affected other series, like Season 3 of House of the Dragon.
Earlier this week, it looked like things hit a snag when reports from Atlantico Hoy said flooding in the Canary Islands had temporarily halted production. This sparked rumors that filming was cancelled and the 2027 release date was in jeopardy. But thankfully, those rumors aren’t true! Polygon reports that sources say the weather caused only a temporary pause, and the show is still on track for its planned release.
A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms Season 2’s Release Update Is A Relief
It’s not surprising that A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Season 2 is still expected to come out in 2027. Filming began in December, meaning a significant portion of the season was likely already completed before being paused for promotion of the first season. Since Season 2 has been in production longer than Season 1, the recent delays, while regrettable, probably won’t significantly affect the release schedule.
It’s good to get a clear update that the show is still on track, especially after the recent flooding reports. The idea of a streaming series returning every year isn’t common anymore, but it will be really beneficial for A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. Annual releases were key to the success of Game of Thrones, and because the young actor playing Egg, Dexter Sol Ansell, is still growing, quickly producing new seasons is important to match the character’s age in George R.R. Martin’s Tales of Dunk and Egg books.
It’s a bit ironic that flooding delayed Season 2, considering the season will cover The Sworn Sword, a story set during a major drought in Westeros – the drought is actually central to the plot, as Dunk and Egg get caught up in a dispute over a water source. Hopefully, production will recover quickly, and we’ll see the new season around the same time as the first. The show was a welcome addition to the Game of Thrones universe, and fans are eagerly awaiting its return.
A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Season 1 is available to stream on HBO Max.
So, Season 2 is almost here, and I’m really curious to hear what you think! Head down to the comments and let me know your expectations, or even better, jump into the discussion over at the ComicBook Forum – it’s a great place to share your thoughts and connect with other fans!
