OtherSide Entertainment’s Thick As Thieves, a game now focused on single-player and cooperative play after moving away from player-versus-player-versus-environment, will enter early access on PC on May 20th. What’s unusual is the price: it will cost just $4.99.
So, what’s the deal with this free campaign? Well, the studio head, Paul Neurath – you might know him from the classic Thief games – said it’s all about letting players jump into the world of Thick As Thieves and giving us a good, solid experience to make us want to come back for more. Basically, a free demo to hook us in, and it sounds pretty good!
The new campaign should take at least four hours to finish. It includes two maps with 16 missions and six unlockable gear items. What makes Thick As Thieves interesting is that each mission changes with random elements – like guard patrols and map layouts – giving you a good reason to play it again after you’ve completed it once.
Megabit Publishing supported the decision, explaining that it allows players to start experiencing the game faster and gives the developers the freedom to create more content based on player feedback. They plan to expand the game beyond the main story with future updates, though the specifics of those updates are still unknown.

With involvement from Neurath and Warren Spector, known for his work on Deus Ex, Thick As Thieves is definitely a game to watch when it releases next month. It’s also planned for Xbox Series X/S and PS5, though we don’t have a specific release date for those versions yet.
