TikTok is mourning the loss of one of its brightest stars.
Malik Taylor, also known for his Unpopular Party YouTube channel, has died at the age of 28.
With deep sadness, we announce the passing of our cherished brother, Malik Taylor. As shared on Instagram Aug. 20 by his fraternity Alpha Kappa Psi, he has moved on to ‘Eternal Rest.’ His spirit was a beacon, spreading laughter, happiness, and a radiant smile that illuminated every space he occupied.
Taylor, our brother, truly embodied the principles of camaraderie, unity, and empathy. His unique gift for lifting others up, spreading kindness, and bringing joy has left a lasting impression on us. Although his time among us was tragically brief, he proved to be an exceptional Brother, and his tireless efforts will be honored by the ‘Great Auditor.’ Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and all who cherished him. May you find peace, Malik Taylor, Zeta Phi Chapter Spring 2017. Your absence will be greatly felt, but your influence will continue to guide us.
Despite no additional information being provided, Malik’s sudden passing left more than a quarter-million TikTok fans stunned, along with other content creators on the platform, who expressed their shock in response to his August 19th video post.
As TikToker Raymonte wrote in the comments, “Rest in peace handsome.”
Users across platforms responded with shock and sadness, some exclaiming, “Is this true? Rest in peace!!!,” while others shared their grief, saying, “May you find peace, Malik. This news truly saddens me.
Before he passed away, Malik joyfully marked his relocation from Memphis, Tennessee, to Charlotte, North Carolina, with a final post on his account.
Malik stated in his August 19 TikTok video, “Everyone approached me and asked, ‘Why have you relocated to Charlotte, North Carolina?’ He replied, “I came because I heard the Queen City was looking for a king. The Queen City needed a king. And if you think you’re also here, that’s exactly why they invited me.
Malik recently marked another special occasion as he celebrated his 28th birthday last month.
He posted on Instagram on July 2, ‘Made it through the ’27 club’ (just barely)’. To celebrate turning 28, he declared it was the event of the century. He referred to himself as Malik Gatsby. Here’s to more exhilarating years in my twenties, old friend.
