Tim Burton’s classic film, *Edward Scissorhands*, featuring Johnny Depp and Winona Ryder, debuted in theaters in December 1990, making its 35th anniversary this year. To celebrate, Disney is releasing the film on 4K UHD Blu-ray for the very first time this Halloween, and it will come in a beautiful Limited Edition Steelbook case. Good news! You can now pre-order the Steelbook on Amazon and at Walmart.
Disney is restoring the film with impressive new audio and visual technology – Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos. While the extra features are older ones – including a behind-the-scenes look and commentary from director Tim Burton and composer Danny Elfman – the restoration itself is the highlight. The special Steelbook packaging is also noteworthy, with beautiful artwork. The cover shows Kim’s face reflected in broken glass, and the back features her reflection in Edward’s scissor blades. Inside, you’ll find a stunning illustration of Edward walking down a staircase.

order at amazon
This 4K Blu-ray set of Edward Scissorhands includes the movie on both Blu-ray and digital formats. It’s a limited edition, so it likely won’t be available forever – especially considering how popular the film is and how great the packaging looks. You can pre-order it now on Amazon and Walmart for $39.99. It’s scheduled to be released on October 28th, just in time for a Halloween movie night!
The classic film *Edward Scissorhands* will be available to rent or buy digitally on platforms like Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, and Fandango at Home starting October 28th.
Tim Burton’s *Corpse Bride* recently became available on 4K Blu-ray on September 23rd. Unlike the release of *Edward Scissorhands*, it was released in both a 4K Steelbook and a standard 4K Blu-ray version. It’s likely that *Edward Scissorhands* will also get a standard 4K Blu-ray release once the Steelbook edition sells out.
