TMNT: Mutant Mayhem Sequel Officially Confirms 2 Major Villains

The next movie will feature the return of two classic villains who didn’t appear in the original. This includes the heroes’ biggest enemy, a character many fans wanted to see battle them in the sequel.

During CinemaCon 2026, Paramount shared news about Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem 2. Producers Seth Rogen, James Weaver, and Evan Goldberg presented a video revealing the villains that will appear in the sequel. These include Shredder, the Turtles’ classic enemy, and Brain, a well-known and memorable villain from the franchise.

Shredder and Krang Are Coming in TMNT: Mutant Mayhem 2

Directed by Jeff Rowe and released in 2023, TMNT: Mutant Mayhem brought back the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles – Donatello (voiced by Micah Abbey), Leonardo (Nicolas Cantu), Raphael (Brady Noon), and Michelangelo (Shamon Brown Jr.). The film’s main villain was Superfly (Ice Cube), but it also featured appearances from other memorable characters like Bebop (Seth Rogen), Rocksteady (John Cena), Leatherhead (Rose Byrne), Ray Fillet (Post Malone), Wingnut (Natasia Demetriou), Mondo Gecko (Paul Rudd), Genghis Frog (Hannibal Buress), and Baxter Stockman (Giancarlo Esposito).

It’s understandable that fans wondered where Shredder was, since he’s usually the Ninja Turtles’ main enemy. Jeff Rowe had revealed plans for the character in Mutant Mayhem but they ultimately decided to hold off. He explained the decision was similar to how Christopher Nolan didn’t introduce the Joker until The Dark Knight, suggesting Shredder could make a big splash in a future sequel.

Shredder Almost Appeared in the First Movie

Rowe explained to Empire that Shredder was originally intended to be the primary antagonist, but they changed direction. They strategically held back the Joker for The Dark Knight. While Superfly is a capable villain – dangerous, strong, and a genuine threat to the Turtles – Shredder needs to be even more formidable. He needs to be significantly more powerful and intimidating.

Fans won’t have to wait quite so long for more Mutant Mayhem content! While the next movie is about four years away, a TV series called Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was created to keep them entertained. Released on Paramount+ in 2024 and 2025, this two-season show continues the story after the first Mutant Mayhem movie, showing the Turtles balancing their lives as both teenagers and ninja heroes in New York City.

The next Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem movie is scheduled to come out on August 13, 2027. You can currently watch the original film and the related TV show on Paramount+.
